Waiver of eligibility for sign up bonus points

I've had luck in the past with co-branded cards ... never tried to get a bonus on two actual Amex supplied cards. So, for example, had a plat edge and a corp green charge, applied for a velocity and got the points. I think I had a bank branded amex when I applied for the Plat Edge too and got the points for that one as well.
Indeed, I'm not even sure that Amex would know you had a bank card (though they may do shortly with CCR), and for example the DJ's card may be an Amex (and even Amex operated) but DJ's are the main customer "owner".

I got a platinum edge with bonus then applied for green charge. Got bonus. Then rang up about annual fee and received a credit for my platinum edge fee as it's a complimentary card with the green charge card. So double sign on an total fee of $160 inc domestic flight etc.

Was this a targeted or very old offer? I can't see a comp Plat Edge listed as a benefit of the Green charge. Heck, even the Plat charge ($1200/yr!) has only the Plat rewards as comp - and that's been enhanced so there's no flight anymore.

I reckon the uptake here would of been huge if it were real.....

Where did you see that? I still see this on the website for the Platinum Charge:

  • If you apply and are approved you will also be eligible to apply for a Platinum Reserve Credit Card (with the $395 annual Card fee waived) that comes with an annualcomplimentary economy return flight[SUP]25[/SUP] to 7 international destinations and 29 domestic destinations or an overnight hotel stay[SUP]26[/SUP]
