Has anyone had success changing a Saver Lite fare to Flexi in order to avail of a Comp Upgrade and have the GCC waive the $80 change fee?

I can't comment for a saver lite fare, but for a saver fare to flexi I don't think I have been charged the change fee. (I've just been given a dollar figure to change and I can't see what price my saver was bought for as I usually have multiple sectors on the one itinerary)

Until recently (last 6-8 weeks) I have always had the change fee waived. Since then I have had to pay it every time I upgrade my fare in order to upgrade to business with points/comp. upgrade. Last week when I upgraded I was advised to upgrade from flexi to saver online and call back to upgrade to business in order to avoid the change fee and call centre fee - I have never been charged a call centre fee before! seems VA are determined to make money any way they can even if it is by charging their most loyal customers when they are redeeming their rewards!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Hmm...VA seems to be quite inconsistent, as I just got off the phone and they fixed it for me without any fee…
