This is probably an obvious ? and answer but I've not put in for an upgrade before.

My upgrade request is now showing waitlist and it hasn't previously. Flt. is Dec. and my request for upgrade on ret. in Jan. is still showing the request only. Both int'l flts.

Should I start getting excited or is this normal. I realize you don't find out until just prior to flt. so my logic tells me this is just the next step in normal process.

Thanks again

Yes, just normal. Afraid you wont find out until 24hrs before the flight.
If you want somebody to check availablity then let us know the flights and dates and can take a look on EF.

thanks Evan, i've been looking @ ef, still showing j9 and d9 for the outgoing. i figured the waitlist was part of the process. if i do get an upgrade on way over, i will probably just float on into the aircraft and then worry the 2 wks. i'm away abt. not getting the upgrade on way back. ;)

Please let us know how you go with your upgrade request and what the route was.

Good luck.

If I had to guess I would say the route is BNE-LAX.

21/12 QF 15 9:30-11:45 Bne Int'l QF lounge
21/12 QF 3202 8:30-9:30 Lax Terminal 4 Admirals club
happy to guest
I was updating my Qantas Lounge visits late last night/early this morning and noticed the entry for December. ;)

yep, that's the one qf15 on 21/12. wasn't being mysterious, just didn't think anyone would be interested. :)
coming back 5/1 on qf16.

both flts. still showing j9 d9. please don't anyone burst my bubble and tell me this doesn't really mean much. i realize it can get busy prior to flt. but i'm hoping it doesn't.

on return flt. first dep. flt. is 6am, and of course the late dep. from LAX(sleeping on plane is in the minimum for me) then upon return to oz., flt. to roma, then car to where i've lived past 3 months, packing up and moving towns. so business class roll on. :D
