Waitlist on Reward booking

I have the option of waitlisting a saver award from BNE to LHR over Christmas. Have any of you had experience with waitlisting an award seat? What are my chances of it coming to fruition ?
I dont want to tie up 380,000 points if I cant cancel if nothing clears in the next 5-6 weeks...

You do need to have enough miles available at the time of creating the waitlist, KF miles are not deducted until you ticket the redemption.

If you were to create it as two one way bookings, then you would only need half the number of miles at the time of creating.

There is no charge to cancel a waitlisted booking.

You can cancel at any time but would suggest your chance of this happening is low at Xmas. If you have the points there is little downside though, do you have a better use?

No better use right now actually, so may give it a whirl. Was going to transfer my VA points across. The only issue with SQ are the massive fees/taxes on a redemption. Just over $2k in this instance...
