Waitlist in J, and still book in PE with same points balance?

New to KF, so wondering what will happen in the following case?

I am waitlisted for two J flights on subsequent days. I have transferred just enough Amex points to KF to cover this booking.

However, there are available PE seats that I can confirm now on the same flights.

If I book the PE seat, does the J waitlist booking automatically cancel? (Obviously this will then not allow me to make a new J booking as I will have insufficient KF points.)

The waitlists won't automatically cancel. They will stay there until you either get the nod or the flight date passes.

Thanks for the reply - so if I get the nod as you say, do I just simply pay the points balance difference for the J redemption?

I have only ever waitlisted flights in the same class as my booking so I have no experience of how it works practically. Hopefully the brains trust here can answer this question for you.
