I'm looking for anyone with recent! previous experience in getting a new VWP stamp after being in Canada.
My husband and I (stupidly) didn't do our research on the rules of Canada not resetting the VWP. We will have been in the USA for nearly 70 days before heading to Canada, we aren't travelling there in the hope of resetting the VWP, we had already planned to go there to visit a friend and participate in a sporting event. We will then want to re-enter USA for some more sporting events before leaving for Europe, which we have flights booked for. However we would need to leave sooner based on the rules saying time spent in Canada counts towards the current VWP.
Has anyone had experience with being restamped? We have proof that we will be leaving and that we were in Canada for an event plus have events in USA to attend. We aren't trying to game the system just didn't read the rules properly.
If we can't get the stamp we will have to fly to Europe earlier. Alternatively my husband entered USA after me and can stay a few weeks longer so I am considering leaving and coming back, however I'm not sure if that is risky and whether they will thinking I am trying to live in the USA if I only leave for a couple of days/a week.
Thanks for your help!
