I met someone on a plane and discovered you can go to some cool places to volunteer at animal sanctuaries. I can't remember exactly where she had previously gone to but it sounds awesome. I looked online and found the below website but 980 GBP seems steep for a week volunteering. Price excludes flights. Includes airport pick up, dormitory accommodation, packed lunch and food to prep your own breakfast and dinner as well as transport to and from the facility daily. I don't mind sort of donating some money to some degree but 980GBP is 1800NZD which is a lot!

I'm curious to hear if anyone else has done these types of trips somewhere else more affordable. Was hoping to start out in Aussie first and then venture overseas with it later. I was thinking 1-2 weeks.

Saw quite a few young people working in a couple of Panda centres in the Chengdu region. Sweeping panda poop and cages. Don't know if they got to interact with the pandas.

I wouldn't have a problem cleaning cages. Wouldn't be my favourite job but I would need some kind of reward. Just a few pats :)

Just found that on Viator. 7hr tour. Feeds x2 ~ 30min in a day + 1hr tour of place. Rest is video time or cleaning x2 then making panda cakes. I could certainly do that for a day in China although at 357NZD that is still pricey.😕
