Quite a significant eruption in Chile at present, with the strong winds causing ex USA flights to make pitstops for fuel at present on their way to Australia this could get interesting!

Must be the annual chile cook off competition... I seem to recall chief wigwam had the hottest?

Santiago Flight Information Region Volcanic Ash Eruption from Mt Copahue at 37 degrees 51 minutes South 71 Degrees 10 minutes West, cloud observed at 0740Z (6.40 PM AEDST) from the surface to 24000 ft covering a set of coordinates......moving NE at 30-40 knots ( up to 74km/h).

I think that's the most coherent thing I have ever written in the early hours of the morning :).

Looks like the eruption has settled and its now unlikely to be a major impact on air travel.
