Tiger $ 76.45 (No Food)
Jetstar $ 89 (No Food)
Virgin Blue $ 105 (No Food)
Qantas $ 112 (No Food)

Add on about $15 for food on Virgin Blue and you are more $$ than Qantas.

Should that really be no food with the qantas fare.

$15 for food - MEL/SYD? For me it would be $0, I can hold on for an hour.

Whoops

Tiger $ 76.45 (No Food)
Jetstar $ 89 (No Food)
Virgin Blue $ 105 (No Food)
Qantas $ 112 (Food included)

Yes I can eat in the lounge or alternatively before/after the flight

$15 is "meal" on Virgin with a sandwich, non-alcoholic drink and a choccy bar.

Add on another $8 for an alcoholic drink and it's $24 as that's what you would get on Qantas during evening flights...

So that leaves us with the following on a like-for-like Melbourne-Sydney fare:

Qantas $ 112
Virgin $ 129
