I thought that members here can read and enjoy my failure with Virgin Wines today:

I get this really interesting email this morning from them:

Subject: We’re giving you greater control of your wine cellar

Dear QF WP,
Everyone has different wine tastes… for every 100 die-hard Cabernet fans out there, there are a few don’t see what all the fuss is about. They might rather a glass of fragrant Pinot. There will be others who love both, depending on their mood, the season and the occasion.

That’s what makes wine great – it’s all a matter of personal taste.

If we could ask a few quick questions about the wines you like (and don’t like), we’d be able to recommend wines and build cases that are perfect for you, your taste buds and budget!
Do you love big, rich South Australian reds? Or maybe you’ve got a thing for mouthwatering Italian whites? We need to know so that we can send you more of what you like and less of what you don’t.
Share your preferences with us now – it takes no time at all and will open a world of delicious, affordable wine options. Simply log in to your account and select 'Wine Preferences' on the left-hand side. You can update your preferences whenever you like – after all, tastes change!

Cheers and enjoy,

Tracy Ayres

:D:DSo after a most unsatifying attempt to do exactly what they asked me to do and wasting 15 mins that I will never get back, I send an email to them:

Dear Customer Service (Head Honcho or whatever weird names you have for senior execs these days),

What kind of tin pot outfit is being run there?

I get your email (at bottom) this morning and being interested to advise you these details (there you got me engaged), I use the link and try to log in. Okay, I can’t remember my password so I get re-directed using the link and get advised that a new password is getting sent to me. So you’ll imagine my initial confusion when I get this email:

Okay, after I recover from my initial confusion, I presume that the Virgin Wine Club has back-doored into The Australian Wine Club – why re-create something. But if you’re going to have a “brand”, then surely “that brand” needs to be seen to answer the email. First FAIL

But when I “head over” and try to log in at the link provided (with the new password above) I get:

· The supplied login or password was invalid.

Second FAIL. Not looking good here Virgin Wines…you’re starting to lose me…

Okay, I’m thinking on my feet. Maybe if I go back to the initial link supplied in the first Virgin Wines email, I can get in that way. But in trying that (at least the password worked) I get:
[h=1]This web page has a redirect loop[/h]Third and final FAIL – and EPIC comes to mind as well (although I am Gen X and not Y – but I think your head Honcho will appreciate me talking in the same terms).

You only get one chance to create a good first impression. I’m over Virgin Wines…you lost me. Un-engaged. Not a brand supporter…because I’ve posted this sorry tale on a bulletin board so a couple of our members (40,456 at last count) can have a chuckle today.

Cheers (or lack thereof on my part because I won’t be buying any more wines)

Not expecting a response - I'll probably get shredded and deleted :D

Hope you had a laugh today :D. I certainty did writing it.

Anybody else have similar issues??

I also thought this email was ridiculous and badly executed. I did remember my password but once I got in I still had to manually navigate to the area to set my prefs, which was pretty underwhelming to be honest. I have actually bought from them a couple of times, but it's a typical Virgin branded lazy effort rather than anything unique.

Got the standard email reply this morning:

Thank you for your email.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, I’m sorry that you have received an error from of one of our affiliated partners. I have forward this email to our IT department to investigate this matter. I can assure you this will not happen again.

As a security precaution, I have reset you password to: xyz

Please use this password to log in and you can customize this.

Once again, my apologies for this inconvenience.

If we can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Customer Service

I didn't realise Virgin Wines were part of an alternative organisation. Like their wines though-I don't have particularly highbrow tastes in wine and definitely have a per bottle spend threshhold

They actually think I'm going to reset my password - they sent another email (with correctly branded header this time :D).

They think one email (with a mostly stock standard response) is going to change my mind - COMPLETE FAILURE TO UNDERSTAND THE CLIENT :p:p
