I have a Virgin travel credit due to the cancellation of my Syd-Bne return flight in May this year due to covid. I was given a travel credit stating it had to be used by 31 Dec 2020. I was just told it had been extended to mid next year and there was no need to rush to book....is this correct? A quick google search brought me to this article: https://www.pointhacks.com.au/.../virgin-australia-relaunch/ which seems to suggest it is now extended to 31 July 2022. Can anyone confirm please? Don't really know what / where to book as all states / territories (bar NT) are closed to NSW residents currently and if I can book later, it would be very helpful.
"Virgin Australia will preserve the value of travel credits, post-voluntary administration. These credits will now have an expiry date of at least 31 July 2022, so travel can be booked up to 30 June 2023.
The move to extend travel credit expiry by almost two years and honour all Velocity Points will help with consumer confidence and maintain goodwill with customers."
– Paul Scurrah, Virgin Australia Group CEO and Managing DirectorBain Capital recognises the importance of Virgin Australia’s loyal customers, and that’s why they will be provided the value of their travel credits post-administration with validity significantly extended to ensure they have plenty of opportunity to book tickets to their favourite destinations.

As far as I am aware the above is correct. Here is a screen shot of the email VA sent me with the future flight credit details.

As I thought above based on the Point Hacks article in my OP :) Amex sent me a link (see attached) stating the travel credit had been converted to a future flight credit and had to be used by 31 July 2022. ANZ rewards said similar over the phone when they finally answered after a 2 hour wait!

Do you need to use ANZ/AMEX to book or can you do it yourself using something like a 'special' individual travel bank account that those who booked direct have been allocated.

The email Amex sent said I had to ring them to book. Likewise ANZ. Was hoping to use them to attend Ozfest in May but who knows when and how long for will the Qld border be open to NSW residents!

Just wondering which number did you call to query about the ANZ rewards flight? Was it
02 7922 0020? That’s the number on the email for the flight credit that I got from ANZ back in Apr-20.

Also, this is the reward flight for the ANZ travel adventures card I presume?

please call ANZ Rewards on 1300 367 763, outside of Australia +61 2 9352 3276 Monday - Friday between 8am-8pm Australia wide, excluding public holidays.

We used both VA credits yesterday to both a return VA flight Syd-Bne. Anz did not charge any fee but Amex charged $9.99. Go figure...
