VIRGIN Blue is at loggerheads with the International Air Transport Association over its decision not to let the Australian carrier sell tickets for VAustralia through travel agents.

Virgin sees red over VAustralia ban | NEWS.com.au

Not ideal.... But I'm sure they are bending over backwards to try and get it sorted.

Sounds like it will get sorted when they get their AOC.

I don't see it as an onerous condition. IATA wants to know that their members actually want to fly and can fly.

Once VAustralia sort that, then they're fine.

After reading the second article, it seens that Virgin expected the rules to be bent just for them and the IATA has told them to go jump.

Seems like a fair call, they should have planned better.

Rules are rules and i am sure they wont be bent just for V-Australia
Really they are there to protect the sales agents, the public, the credit card companies, protects everybody except the airline but thats life sometimes.

To be honest i am sure if the tickets are reasonably priced people will be more than happy to buy directly off there web site. (retail)

Very few people could not manage that these days but the business flyers wont get any seats as most are booked through an agency.

What do you think that is going to look like from a distance??

Well, the Virgin Atlantic planes look good, so I think this would too. But

a) did they need to squash the VAustralia name between the doors
b) While the union jack at the rear of the fuselage adds an intersting facet, it does make it have an English feel.

Edit: Looking at it more I see a star, so maybe it is an Australian flag, but still....

I don't see the Union Jack anywhere. Is there another photo that showes it?

I worked out it was the corner of the aust flag when I found the stars as well. It is in gray just in front of the red of the tail. Thers is a star just behind the wing.

Now I see it :) saw the Southern Cross straight away. So thought Flag etc. But the Union Jack was invisible to me.

On the monitor I viewed it on before the stars above and behind the wing don't really show up, so I didn''t notice them.

Hmmm, not that common to continue the colour of the tail all the way down from the tail to the base of the fuselage, especially the colour red. Except in Australia. Think I know what you're getting at, and it's not virgin atlantic.

So we have red tail, and southern cross on the tail. Both highly original in the Australian context ;)
