I'm thinking of taking Virgin Premium Economy from Sydney to Hong Kong on a direct flight around December, even though the fares are quite pricey. I feel the Premium Economy Deal would be the best option. Does anyone know:

1. Whether meals are included, and if so, what is usually served?
2. I am a Gold VA member, so what lounges would I be able to use (if any) in the international terminals?
3. Are there any premium valet checkin entries like at the domestic terminal?
4. If I couldn't make this flight, could I cancel the day before but keep say a flight credit with Virgin?

Thanks in advance!

How are you looking at booking it, direct with VS or VA, the fare conditions each one has will answer your question re refunds, there is no valet, VS is full service so no issue with meals and you will have access to a lounge at SYD and HKG on return.

I'm booking direct with VA.
Thanks to all for your replies.

The Premium Economy tickets were quite expensive. Approximately $3300 per person return, and I couldn't find any cheaper elsewhere.

When I had a look at the VA website, it sort of inferred that Premium Economy Flexi would have more extras compared to a Premium Economy deal. Is the only difference just flexibility?

What's the difference between economy seats and premium economy?

Cheers

What dates exactly, changing them a little can result in big savings, here is CX in PE:

I'm thinking of departing 21st or 22nd Dec, and returning on the 4th or 5th Jan.

Cheers

Fare enough, your in peak season, for that sort of money you could do J with MU via PVG on those dates.

I did think about that but would probably prefer a direct flight as changing flights is troublesome.
Having said that though, since it stops at PVG, am I allowed to spend a few days in Shanghai before heading to HK?

Cheers

I did get sucked into the Velocity Platinum Amex Card which apparently offered buy 1 get 1 free Business class, but as usual, they said it didn't cover the Syd - HK route. Extremely misleading IMHO.

VA don't fly to HKG so not sure how that is misleading. Hopefully you can get a decent trip on either VA, Etihad or Delta

I thought it only covered domestic flights?

Domestic 2 for 1s are with the virgin money flyer or High flyer visa.
intl 2 for 1 flexis in business VA and Delta long haul are with the Amex plat velocity.

man i booked a Syd-Hkg-Syd for dec 14th - jan 4th and the cheapest i found was Singa econ for 2Ks! At least can use the lounges on the stopover with my gold.

Is the following available to Gold VAustralia members in Premium Economy Virgin Atlantic?

*Priority check in
*Seat selection
*Priority boarding

Not sure about seat selection but you will get Priority Check In, Priority Boarding & Lounge Access.

Assume lounge benefits/checkin etc are the same no matter whether on the VA/VS code.
What about points/ SCs any difference
- the Velocity T&Cs aren't as clear as QFF on this

Points and SCs are the same regardless, long haul VA and VS have the same earn.
