I must admit that I tend to look around at each airline and/or Zuji. If it is work, it's booked via AMEX Travel and they do the looking for me.

I've found that who is the cheapest really depends upon when you book. A long way out it tends to be Virgin and closer tends to be QF (due capacity). If it really is similar then we are able to book our preference.

bestflights.com.au and webjet.com both offer a comparison with all flights on one screen. Generally, I know what time I want to travel and flick backwards and forwards between the two when travelling personally.

In general, I find that QF in usually cheaper on a Sunday night if booked a couple of months out and DJ always make these quite expensive.

Generally flights are only booked between a few days out and up to 3 weeks ahead. Always for MEL - SYD/BNE/PER routes. Wouldnt be able to book Sunday nights. I will talk to our "travel booker' and let her now about the webjet etc scenarios.

(She used to work for DJ so I suspect some former, maybe misplaced, loyalty :) )

I find webjet.com.au to be the expensive option and best flights.com.au normally one of the better options. ;)

Yeah, I've noticed, they're both purely for research purposes and then the airline gets my money direct.
