Ive previously applied for the High Flyer card (closed in Mar 18) and thinking of opening the Platinum. Ive searched everywhere, and cant seem to find the info I need. Would I be able to quailfy for the 20K x3 if I did? I should be able to right as the T&C says:

60,000 bonus Velocity Points offer is available to new approved Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card account holders who apply by 31 October 2018. 20,000 bonus Velocity Points will be awarded for every month $1,500 or more is spent on Eligible Transactions for 3 months from card approval.

I'm technically new as I was previously a new approved Virgin Australia Velocity High Flyer card account holder? Am I correct?

Yup, that’s correct. I closed one & reapplied for the other card in the same month & had no problems getting the points.

Side note- am guessing you haven’t read the thread, cause I reckon I’ve written that about 27 times. It’s really worth reading for this card because of the tricky eligible spend & timing.... YMMV :)

So as a consequence of a lot of things going on in my life over the past few weeks, I've neglected to even buy Coles vouchers and I'm about to miss the spend target for month 2 when my statement issues tomorrow.

Dang it.

Oh well, getting 20,000 points for month 3 will still be enough to justify the $64 fee.

I applied and was approved for the card in the last few days of October, and the points from my first month just posted, but appear wrong. I should have been on the 40k for each of the first three months thing, but they've sent me 40k in one lot, another 30k the same day, and there is 30k more listed in Virgin Money's "reward history" page which says "Rejected" rather than "Fulfilled" like the other two.

I haven't yet decided whether to ask them about it, or wait until next month to see if they give me the next 40k that is supposed to occur. I suspect they won't and will need to chase them up, but you never know...

This brings to mind a quote often attributed to Napoleon Bonaparte:
“Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake."

And a mistake they made. My second statement just got issued and the points posted.

From what I can tell from the reward status messages in Virgin Money’s site, the computer system automatically re-queued the 30k that failed. Since part of the 100k failed, it got sent to a person who then queued up the 100k to be sent.

End result, I now have 200k Velocity points rather than the 120k I’m supposed to have :)

probably a dumb question,
but if I got rejected for the Qantas Premier Card which is backed by citi
will my virgin app be rejected as well? or are they unrelated?

Past experience suggests Citibank will not approve any applications if you have requested any credit related decisions (new application, credit limit increase etc) with them for the last few months (can't remember 3 or 6), so I would say it will be a no go for this card in your situation.

Oh well another decline. From a citi backer.

Im done for credit card churning for another 6 months :(

I wonder if they'll tell you if they have anything negative against your name?
Theey offered to tell me if ut was anything particular that was the reason, but the system just said a generic "you did not meet the requirement "

I had this card before and closed it and reapplied in Sep last year. My one and only rejection (I did have 2 citi cards open at the time). Applied again on the Sunday and approved today. Last time I received 4 * 20k points instead of 3 *. Wonder if it will happen again.

Slim pickings for cards but looks like my partner and I will need to churn these cards for Krisflyer miles :)

Gday

I got one of these high flyer cards and it is going well but the only thing i misunderstood was the virgin lounge passes. Are you supposed to get two passes when you get the card initially? I asked them and they said no not until your card anniversary next year. So effectively you need to hold the card for two annual fees to get the lounge passes. I had this card a few years ago and this seems to be a change.

Is this correct or have i been lied to?

Thanks.
Pele.

I had the same issue. It took a couple of messages through internet banking but eventually they credited the lounge passes. Quote the website at them: (footnote 33)

High Flyer Credit Card | Virgin Money Australia

"The complimentary Lounge pass benefit is available to Primary Virgin Australia Velocity High Flyer Cardholders only and provides two Single-Entry Virgin Australia domestic Lounge passes each year. You will become eligible for your two Single-Entry Virgin Australia domestic Lounge passes upon card activation in your first year and then each anniversary thereafter."

I have had the Flyer card f or 3 months now. My first lot of 20,000 sign up bonus points arrived after my 2nd statement within the time allotted by the T&C's but the regular spend points have not been posted across to Velocity within the 3 days after each statement as per T&C's. A few calls with the usual "blah, blah having system problems" and so far an extra 22,000 points have been awarded as compensation. Hope they take a while to fix their system.

I cancelled the high flyer after my annual fee posted (but didn’t get charged annual fee) last year and the 2 virgin lounge passes ended up in my virgin account anyway. Anyone else had this experience with the passes?
Have a friend who is looking to cancel in same way, I assume they are better off waiting half way through the month following the annual fee posting to cancel.

Keen on applying for this card with the new 75k bonus points. I already have the Citi Signature. Held this card for 3 years+. Will that cause an issue in applying for the Virgin Flyer card as it is backed by Citi??

Unlikely you'd have an issue provided your credit limits aren't crazy. I had Citi signature and got High Flyer last year without any issue.
