Hard to really say. It's hit and miss. I've had government charges go through on this and they're not meant to.

Hello again

I rang Virgin to query my spend for the month and the call centre person mentioned that insurance payments don't qualify for the promotion. I could find no mention of this in the terms and conditions.

Is it so?

cheers Peter

Unfortunately with all the earning restrictions (classifying private companies in with government spend is a rort for starters) it really is ridiculous that Citi (the supplier of the Virgin Money cards) can't have their online system easily show the points earned or not on each transaction as you go. They must waste so much call centre time on customer complaints associated with this.

I expect my HF in the next few days. I have a good list of spend over the next 3 months, but might need to top up at month-end and hold over larger spend for the new statement period

Does anyone have experience with Visa Only 1? I was looking up where to buy them from and a came across these complaints:
Only 1 Gift Card

Are the posters there being spuds, or are the cards truly difficult to use? I want to use Only 1 to pay bills online

Also, are Only 1 available to purchase at all Woolworths stores, or is it a lucky-if-you-find them deal?

Hi all, I have the high flyer and am thinking of applying for the money flyer, would I be intitled to the money flyer bonus points while still holding the high flyer

Have used the Visa Only 1 giftcard all the time to get 3 points on the Amex Platinum Edge to pay bills. Nothing wrong so far after 50+ cards.

Has anyone used this card for their Ebay purchase via Paypal can confirm if it is an eligible transaction?

Got my first month's statement today. Earned points on all my spend and has the 40,000 Bonus Points noted on the statement. So hopefully all transfers to Velocity smoothly!

Will be the easiest Citibank experience ever if it is the case!

Wow and same day posting to my VA account. I have never had a credit card award BP's instantly in this sense, and was fully expecting a fight with Citibank!

Guys I just sign-up for the high-flyer with high-flyer spend of 3k/month for 3 months. Other than buying 9k worth of woolies 3gift cards, what other hacks can you recommend?

What's the highest value one of these that you have managed to purchase, and where from? Everywhere I have looked around and $200 is the highest value. Bit annoying really, especially for the fee.

I usually buy the $100 Visa giftcards. Never seen the $200 before. I get them from Woolies.

At the $100 level the $5.95 fee is a fair hit, or do you somehow avoid it?

You can avoid much of it by:

1) Waiting for a promotion where the fee is either waived or reduced.

2) Using a 5% discounted WISH card and buying the VISA ONLY card from Woolworths.

I guess this is the only way to go. How I wish there is at least a $500 VISA 1 gift card.

About to reach 4th month on High Flyer, hopefully I am pleasantly surprised when points post. Spent just over $3k this month, has anyone reached a 5th month yet, and if so is there anything to report?

Any tip for us on home to meet the minimum spent on this? Any hack you can share?

No hack as such, but since having the card I have had 2 car insurances due and school fees due which helped in month 1 and 2. I also prepaid daycare and health insurance for a couple of months. (I pay 100% of daycare fees and get the 50% rebate credited by govt to my bank account each week, I guess this could be a hack, it’s certainly been a good earner).

I plan on prepaying lots of months of foxtel and mobile/internet bills, as well as me next cruise, flights, and tour costs

Does anyone know if "energy australia" is considered government spend?

I'm going to see how this works out, but I'm thinking prepaying 6 months worth of bills might end up being awesome

Okay I applied for the High Flyer 120k bonus points offer via Velocity website (on Virgin Money they didn't have this offer). It took them about 2 weeks to approve the card. I had two phone calls asking several similar / overlapping questions but in the end I was approved and the card arrived almost a week later.

I've already managed to hit the $3,000 eligible spend (I hope given our many exceptions they have!) so will be interested to see if everything goes well and I automatically get the first lot of 40k points. the annual fee hasn't hit the account yet but guessing this will with the first statement. This is my first serious attempt to build velocity points for later Singapore Airlines J flights to Europe lets see how everything turns out.

Definitely a bit of planning needed to manage to hit the eligible spend target for 3 months running but luckily I have family who have some big bills they are happy for me to pay and transfer the money :)
