Usually I fly Qantas or Jetstar so I can use my Qantas Club lounge access, and when I'm flying on a work flight on Virgin I get Virgin Lounge access. This Friday I am using my free Virgin flight I get through American Express Platinum Edge card, and I will be getting to the airport several hours before the flight (that's when my bus gets there from Toowoomba).

Does anyone know where I can get a one off lounge access, similar to what Qantas gives out. Or alternatively there anyone with lounge access travelling by themselves that could take me in as their guest? :D

Thanks

Rob

Good morn! I don't think you can buy a straight up single entry, but do check out the July thread for meetings and social events, it has a list if folks who are happy to guest.

Enjoy!

What time will you be at BNE on Friday Rob? I might be able to assist dependent on timing.

Thanks, I'll have a look.

My bus gets to BNE at 1640 and my flight to ADL is at 2005. Thanks!

Ahh, bugger. I'll be there at 0820ish on a tight connection between ROK and MEL. Hope you find someone to guest you in.

Is there any reason you only get access when on work flights? Do they fly you J? If you have Lounge membership or Gold/Silver Velocity status, you're entitled to lounge access still (the Amex flights are free to you, but they book into a regular fare class that has no restrictions on lounge access).

If you are Velocity Silver, you can still buy lounge access on a per access basis:

[h=2]Single Entry and Guest Entry[/h]
Single Entry lounge passes can only be purchased, at a cost of $65 at the Virgin Australia lounge reception, by lounge members and Velocity Platinum and Gold members, when bringing additional guests beyond their existing allocation into the lounge. Single Entry is subject to capacity.
Note:
A Single Entry (including Single Entry that is provided to Velocity Silver members on achieving and maintaining Silver Status) is not valid for international lounge entry and cannot be used when flying internationally with Virgin Australia, or at partner airline lounges. Note: These changes do not impact Silver member lounge vouchers allocated upon upgrade to or maintenance of Silver membership.

No we get access to the lounge for economy flights. I work for the ADF, not sure if Virgin does this just for ADF or WoAG.

Unfortunately I'm not a Silver Velocity.

I was thinking of transferring some Amex MR points to velocity and upgrading the flight to J, but I'm not sure how long the points take to transfer across and if it will be worth it. Would have been much better earlier in the year when I could get a) bonus 15% to transfer the points and b) 50% off business upgrade with Virgin.

I have no status on VA and a few weeks ago on Friday night I was flying to SYD from CBR and I asked the reception staff if I could use their shower facilities and that I was QF SG and they conferred with each other for 5 seconds asking each other "Are we allowed to do this?", they then promptly let me in and encouraged me to stay until my flight was ready for boarding. There were a total of 7 people inside.

So I suppose... ask nicely and ask for the shower which is a pretty specific reason for lounge access. :p
