Virgin launches new check-in service

November 15, 2004

Passengers on airline Virgin Blue will soon be able to check themselves in to airports in less than 60 seconds with new self-service kiosks.

The budget carrier has unveiled Blue Check, a system which allows passengers to check themselves in for their flight, choose their own seat and print their own boarding pass in under a minute.

Kiosks are expected to be installed in Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne next year, with other airports likely to follow.

"As always, we are focused on enhancing and streamlining the travel experience for our guests and the new Blue Check self-service kiosks are just another way, through technology, that we can offer quick, efficient and more convenient service to travellers," Virgin Blue chief executive Brett Godfrey said.

Initially, the system will be offered to guests travelling with cabin baggage only, but the airline said it planned to give all guests the option of self-service check-in by the end of the April next year.

Certainly a good start as they certainly need some huge improvements in that department :!:
