Hi all.
Appreciate some advice.
I'm planning a trip next year to Penang and I'd like to book VA codeshare with Singapore Airlines as I have status with VA and an eye on credits.
No problem to book return flights from Sydney using the VA online booking engine. However I've decided I'd like to spend a few days in Singapore on one leg (all flights connect via Singapore), which makes it a multi city booking, and that it won't do :(
Are my options only to either use VA call centre and will I be charged for this? Or use a travel agent? (probably a better price but I prefer to book direct with airline if possible). I also checked booking with Singapore Airlines directly, but for some reason my preferred flights are substantially more expensive this way.
I'm feeling quite frustrated as the flight SIN>PEN is a one hour flight on Silk Air...
I'm also hanging out for a double status credits offer if at all possible :)
If I can't book online, does that mean no discount codes and no gift vouchers?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Call centre is the best option in your case. You won’t be charged any fees for it, they have stopped it a while ago. You could call in and say you couldn’t book it online and so the call. This way you might be able to use the discount code if you have one. I don’t think it would be any problem to use gift vouchers through call centre.
Best of luck :)

I do not believe that you are able to book VA codeshare flights on SQ with stopovers in SIN, even through the call centre.

You need to book direct on SQ (SQ flight numbers) to do this but the SC earn will be the same anyway.

I think you may be correct in that.
Could always try 2 seperate bookings aswell. The SYD-SIN-SYD legs might be cheaper on VA website and then just book the SIN-PEN-SIN leg on the SQ website.
Might be worth playing around with it a bit

I'd recommend using the ifly booking tool which is very flexible as you can insert airline codes etc and play around. (Also you may find they may give a very generous agent discount.)

If you not so sure about booking through them (though in reality it's Sabre's booking system just tagged to the agent) you can get Flight Centre to price match who will beat them by $1. Also flight centre will offer a $99 package if the fare does drop further though if they do and accept the claim, the credit is in the form of Flight Centre gift vouchers.
