I have recently foolishly flown Virgin business class on a couple of occasions. Virgin is treating business flyers with derision. In so far as it blames the virus for its service I simply don't accept it. The food is insultingly inedible and the wine is served in plastic glasses. I have been a platinum member for many years and fly frequently. I used to enjoy Virgin and was very loyal. Alas the relationship in over. After using up my points I'm back to Qantas, which really is trying. I must say the new Rex also sounds interesting.

Rex will be the #2 player in Australia if they play their cards correctly. If they can provide a similar business class product to what VA had, and expand jet offerings beyond the golden triangle, then I will certainly be switching.

With what fleet?!

I also await with anticipation what Rex will offer, given how far VA3.0 has dismantled itself, and wants to appeal to 6 year old girls, I hold little hope for its future, and advise others to jump ship NOW while they can!

VA J business class (not a QF Y hot-box, or QFlink box!)

This is what you see when you open it!

Spread out, so you can see what VA thinks its J passengers are worth :(

Wow, what a load of junk (box says packaging compostable-they must mean the contents as well!).

I think the tomato chutney is left over from VA1's sausage roll meal. Ohhh the memories...

It was branded differently, but the flavour was the same... and yes, once it hit the taste buds, it really did bring back memories of what was, but is no more. Mangan was soooo much better than that QF bloke's (inflight domestic J) stuff. I think the wholemeal seed crackers were a smaller version of what use to be served with the cheese too.

What a joke. Hyrdlicka Airlines don’t deserve our business if this is how they treat their most loyal and CIP customers. I flew QF J MEL-CNS this morning and got a nice hot meal for breakfast and noticed that the guy next to me was served a 150 lashes Ale at 11am.

All terribly sad.

The FIRST thing Ms Hardlkr should have ensured is key lounges were open FAST and a 2019 business class experience.

The instant noodles nonsense should have shaken them.

Now December 8 folks - busiest fortnight of the year ahead - you can't blame anyone except incompetence at the top.

Just call yourself Tiger#2 and you are at least fooling and conning no-one then.

Planes full of folks burning miles is not making you money.

No-one SANE will spend $400 for cr*p like that in flight, no WifFi and no lounges.

Wait for their (Rex)'s new FF program to see what its plusses are.
Purely looking at their introductory J fares, its very good, but then we also have to see what they are later on, after introductory J fares have served its time.
Currently, Rex business program gives 2 free flights for every 18 flown, so 1 free per 9... if they are serious about being a rival of QF and VA3, they (Rex) will make their FF program very pleasing, but we just have to wait.
They (VA) says their lounges are still being looked at, into when they are reopening, ADL still hasn't a fixed date of its opening, I am flying out Jun long weekend.
Hope the new VA ADL lounge will open by then.

Well actually burning points does make Bain revenue as money leaves the Velocity ‘trust’.

Not saying it’s a good strategy.....

I don't get the fascination with trying to turn VA into the same beast it was. It never made money, it was a very poorly run business and its offering (Apart from the coast to coast and J generally) was poor.
From my observations, the priority boarding worked well, lounges were OK, the staff were generally friendly and they always got me home in one piece.
This is a new incarnation of the beast, its lean and hopefully it will make money now its been trimmed down. The alternative is that they fail and then competition is dead. Rex will step up and I for one will give them a try, but honestly, I think VA are headed down the right track, chasing profits rather than market share, setting up alliance to run low margin routes and offering appropriate service for short haul domestic routes, whilst it appears the ability to earn/burn on SQ is still alive.

Obviously they have crunched the numbers and have decided that they don’t need the frequent Flyers that spend large amounts with them which is their prerogative. I would love to give them a chance but a terrible J product and no lounges make it an easy decision to spend with QF

I agree, the main platinum benefits are still there. Lounges weren't at every airport so for those that travel different destinations regularly you did not always get them. As long as the seat spacing does not change the flight should be the same so I don't see any problems and it does look better than what was on the cards back in April if they did not get a buyer.

I flew Adelaide Sydney business last Friday night QF, on board service nearly back to normal, wine in a glass, nice cheese/crackers/grapes/nuts/choc, thanks for sharing, this thread reaffirms I made the correct airline choice.

What's forgotten here is that really if you can get a business rewards booking, the number of points currently is marginally more than economy. So with a business rewards ticket during the promo period I think it matches expectations.
I've also noticed that a business saver fare can be cheaper than a freedom fare as well, so again I think that it can represent a better value for money.
Virgin have acknowledged the shortcomings and have announced a relaunch in 2020.
Frequent Flyers on this forum would we well aware of the current shortcomings, so if you are aware you shouldn't be bashing it. However, it is good to show what the current offering is.
Whilst it may not be the offering you expect, to me it looks in line with what you would get domestically in business class in the US depending on the length of the flight.
