1) I thought that earning miles DJ miles on Skywest had been in place for a while now, like more than 6 months? I saw ads for it when l was living in WA.

2) Skywest do a bucket load of charter FIFO flights, like QF (National Jet) used to do with the BAe 146's. One scenario that ran through my mind was; if DJ do re-brand and get more planes, the older ones can be used for FIFO charter flights in WA. Many-a-times l have been on a Skywest Fokker 100 with 5 or less pax, potential to make a killing on FIFO charter services.

The announcement is an extension of the codeshare agreement beyond the initial 2 years, addition of 18 propjets to service regional ops Australia wide under Skywest operations but supplied via DJ, the announcement mentions their desire to chase FIFO.

The addition of a new type to an AOC in under 6 months will be quite impressive and one of the reasons why I am not sure it may be one of the above options, while many of the industry pundits are going for the Q300/400 there is no capacity in the factory for a mid year delivery as far as I can tell, and I doubt DJ are in a hurry to have a Q400 problem disrupting schedules for months, a F100 was still flying Q400 routes up until ROK closed for QFlink.

E170 perhaps?

I thought they were announced as turbo props, and didn’t think an E170 could be a turbo prop?
E170 is a jet, always has been and always will be, though is a candidate for new technology engines such as GTF but that is a different story. I was suggesting that a short term solution to introducing a new type may be to use DJ's E170s.

Will be interesting to see what happens when those prop jets hit the routes with J cabins, sure will get the interest of MP's heading to regional areas, that's a possibility if it's the 600 series of ATRs.
