I just booked in 17 family members including myself for a family trip in September with Virgin Blue MEL-BNE-MEL for $198 each plus baggage.

I was close to booking tickets yesterday MEL-OOL-MEL for $278 each plus baggage so i'm very happy I waited another day and made a great saving!

That's a big family!

This includes my own direct family plus aunts, uncles, cousins etc. but yes it is very big so the saving was huge.

Around the tune of $3,500! :)
$3,910 it was all up which includes baggage and credit card free. I purchased the tickets on my NAB Qantas Platinum American Express so that one transaction is almost 6,000 QFF points!

Pity you dont get all the SCs and FF points from all the travellers!

Would a group booking be cheaper?;) [too late now, but did you ring to find out....]

Sorry....didn't really want to take the wind out of your sails!

24 hour wait for group booking and really had to book A.S.A.P

I've found in the past that group fares tend to be more expensive than the online cheapies, however they generally are much less flexible. Changes or refunds are often allowed and they don't always need passenger names at the time of booking.
