Virgin Blue embarks on brand overhaul

I hope that the logo is a draft, not a final! Their appears to be a serious kerning issue and the relationship of the a's to the other letters looks awful (compare to the other Virgin airline logo text). It'll bug me every time I see it!

Looks a bit slap-up and amateur.

It would be nice if SIA allow the use of Virgin Australia for VA in return for a code share across the Pacific, could be the answer to a lot of their troubles, maybe even a leg-up to Star Alliance. Now that would be superb

Cheers Dee

My only thoughts on the issue are that while Virgin Australia must be an attractive name for the company, neither Virgin Australia or V Australia would appeal to the Samoans (Who own 51%) of Polyneasian Blue

Thus I would expect a likely outcome to be the domestic brand to be Virgin Australia, with the international arm being Virgin Pacific, if Singapore approve of the naming, or if not, the possibility of even a name such as Pacific Blue?

I think Blue is long gone....

I was under the impression that SQ have given the go ahead for Virgin to use the Virgin Name overseas...

What I think will happen, is Virgin Australia will do domestic operations, and V Australia will do any flight overseas, including flights to NZ. However I don't know enough about Poly Blue to comment...

You know, the thing that gets me is that everybody is so excited if that's the right word about this new brand. I am very curious too, so this is not the pot calling the kettle black!

But it's like our own version of the rumours about a new ipad or iphone, except that this isn't even an actual product, its not a new plane or seats, it's just a brand name and a logo. I wonder why we're all so het up about this, but of course DJ would be thrilled at what The Rocky Horror Picture Show would call our anti-c-i-pation!

Just showing off a competitive nature

Well the next 738 isn't in the new livery just yet.

Virgin Blue is actually doing a complete "makeover" that also includes their Velocity F/F program, which could also see a name change. The new program will probably link up with the "Westfarmers" Coles group possibly using their "Fly Buys" loyalty scheme much the same way Woolies and QF have successfuly done.
So DJ/VA will liven up the airline industry in more ways than one in early May:D

Cheers Dee

I will be interested to see whether YFE 's delivery run is to BNE or CHC.the rumour going around is that the next 738 after YFC will arrive on the 4th of May from CHC,so perhaps it will stop off on it's way from Boeing for painting .
I had heard that YFC was in CHC being painted but that may just be scuttlebutt and YFE may in fact be the first 738 in the new colours.
Interesting times.

Fantastic - further cementing duopoly as the Australian way of the "free" market. What's next? Merging 4 banks to 2? 2 health insurance providers?

It was a duopoly well before these enhancements and the market will remain just as "free" as it has been for quite some time; It's not like they're taking over other airlines and shrinking the playing field. They're just adding partners to enhance their products and in turn heat up the competition.

As a consumer, this is a good thing.

I've just noticed something with the V Australia booking engine when looking at flights Sydney to London ... there's a domestic flight down to MEL to connect to Etihad metal, and where it would usually say 'Operated by Virgin Blue' it's now saying 'Operated by Virgin Australia'. Wasn't saying that yesterday. ;)
