I'm assuming you're referring to this program?

Quick search of the boards shows it's not been discussed or mentioned here before, save for the information from their 2009 launch press release.

From reviewing the program, it seems to be similar to the QBT offering. The main points of difference is that while QBT provides contracted rates, the DJ offering uses the travel credit based on spend as the discount method.

On the benefits side, QBT doesn't seem to provide documentation on what other enticements and benefits customers will get. Accelerate offers 2 guaranteed Velocity Gold memberships, discounted rates on lounge memberships and a few other bits and bobs.

In terms of it will benefit you, you need to shop around. If your business is already with DJ and your existing booking channels aren't delivering value, then this is a no-brainer.

However, if your travel is spread over multiple carriers or alliances then shop around for the best deal. Look at your options, which include QBT, Flight Centre corporate travel, and other companies in this space. When looking at these companies, a good idea is to have a word document which you can send them that covers the number of travellers, current average yearly spend, commonly flown routes, and any special needs such as lounge access, excess baggage/freight, etc.

And make sure you get them to do the hard work and produce proposals for your business so you can do decent comparisons between who can provide you the most value - don't spend your time running the maths and doing the run around.

Thanks thewinchester. The only reason they offered - I asked to match my platinum to their gold. Instead of matching they offered the program.

Hi Toronto,
If you are interested in talking with someone from our team i can organise a call, just PM your details.
As Winchester says, if you are flying with us already and have a significant amount of flying to come in 2011, then its a no brainer - but then we would say that! :D

Virgin Blue just ignoring me. As a Platinum, I asked to match my status. Was rejected. The Virgin Blue contacted again and still nothing.

Look like they not interesting in FF to swith business from other airlines. I am in the middle of planning my second year trips and still hoping they will do match.

I realise big decisions should come with weekend replies to emails, but it’s been 3 days over a weekend, they’re hardly ignoring you at this stage. I’d wait until next week.

Thanks samh004, will be patient, but still not understand why they matched some "gold" to "gold" in December 2010 but ignoring my "platinum" to "gold". A litte bit strange.

There was an offer on during a specific period, and they matched a lot then and a few outside of it, but it’s been a while since then and I guess they’re not keen to just keep matching people when they email in. They want some sort of commitment now, which is understandable.

I’m sure if you’re seriously interested in Accelerate then they’ll get in touch with you, but they probably also have a lot of other stuff going on, behind the scenes, preparing for all their changes ;)

Not interesting in accelerate. Will wait for their next offer and will enjoy my Platinum benefits!

Well posting that here you’re perhaps signalling to them that you’re not willing to fly to get the status on your own (even after the match, re-qualifying I mean)… personally I’d be waiting anyway, to see what they unveil in terms of revamps, before deciding if a status match and subsequent change in travel patterns is worth it.

Actually in all my correspondence I clearly stated that i would like to start flying on the second half of year extensively to keep a gold status whtn they will match. None would like to take responsibility to make a decision. Anyway, I am no loosing. They are!

toromto,

If you are serious about this then why don't you send a PM to 'Velocity Rewards' and see if he is able to help you?
