Virgin Australia to get inflight Internet

Glad it's finally happening, but will wait to see the pricing structure before I get too excited.

Im happy to pay, nothing crazy but I think on SQ, I paid $15USD and got a few hours out of it which helped break up the trip.

Ultimately, I think its going to be a lot of people saying they want it but when its a reality that will cost them, most wont use it.

SQ's highest pricing was USD39.99 but now halved to USD19.99 - I regularly buy it - but OMFG it is so painfully slow it borders on useless - quite often I request IFS to report the unacceptable speed and have always rcvd refunds. I did not bother yesterday SIN-PVG even though I am totally addicted to AFF.

So now to VA - whatever they do speed is the reqd overriding factor - cost still must be reasonable even though they have captive audience - but pax will always whine about speed.

I find it OTT that SQ still charge R/F pax for wifi.

I like air travel because being offline is forced upon me.

The other day, the first thing the guy in the window seat (I was in aisle, vacant seat betwixt) did up upon touchdown was check Grindr. I wasn't prying but he had large screen phone and he wasn't being particularly surreptitious. So for him it could be a real opportunity.

that's so funny... "i wasn't prying blah blah blah......", but you managed to turn your head enough to view the guys large screen (justifying your actions:rolleyes:), with a spare seat between you both, and keep looking long enough to know it was grindr. me thinks you may have been ever so slightly 'curious':D

AA have internet for (I think) $20 for 24 hours. I haven't partaken, but was certainly tempted. So for me it would have to be similarly priced to be attractive with VA.

I used to worry about inflight internet. Don't really care now and may make use of it if reasonably priced.

I am a nosy cough. My head is constantly turned in all directions. People's actions amaze me as I'm sure my actions amaze others.

I once watched an entire Chinese foreign movie with subtitles between the two seats in front of me... It's easy enough to see what someone has on their phone, although I thought Grinder was a gay Tinder so depending on the screen, I might have assumed it was cough (never seen Tinder either so I don't know what it looks like).

When flying delta, hubby usually buy WiFi.

I have ADHD so I am horrible on long flights so this is something I will most certainly pay for without worry.

I was looking out the window!! Sure there was curiosity... Having never seen 'those' kinds of apps. It was pretty risque IMO and it was all on display. If anything, there was more envy. I only have an old iPhone 4s with a little screen. Relatively speaking. :)

Yes I'm pretty nosy too. Planes are great for people watching. Besides, there's not that much else to look at while taxiing is there?

Agreed. If you don't want someone to know what you are doing then don't do it in view of others.

Internet can be useful - 18 months ago I was about to rebook a delayed Delta flight while still on my preceeding segment. Other than such I find little use.

So I went to the Olympic Park/Allphones Arena on the weekend and got to watch the old guy in front of me watch cough.

As I was taking a photo of him and his screen, his buddy noticed, elbowed him and he turned it off.

The internet is wonderful but there is a time and place for some things....
