My apologies for posting this so late, but Ive just found the notebook, I wrote things down in.
So here goes, this is my first tr.

I was awake at 0430 and as my alarm was due to go off at 0445 I decided to make a dash for the shower before my mum and brother go up and want to have theirs. I finished packing and downed and Up and Go before heading out the door at 0545.
My brother dropped mum and I off near the station and I bought my ticket and we made our way to the first carriage as it would be close to the lift at Central Station. Saw mum off at Parramatta and finally made it to Central for the short train ride to the domestic airport.

Once at the airport I made my way to the Virgin Australia queue for the bag drop, it was already busy (most likely due to school holidays starting the next day) but the queue did move quickly, pity the security screening wasnt it was a chaotic mess of lines everywhere.

Out of the security screening I made my way to the Virgin lounge to use the lounge pass I purchased, showed them my velocity card and went inside.

First impressions: It was big, light and bright. I made a beeline for the ladies, which were nicely fitted out and clean. I then went and had a look at what food was on offer and decided one some cheese, ham and two mini muffins to be washed down with a glass of water.

My view of the Virgin Australia and The Lounge:

*
Its a big area, but when there is a lot of people could be hard to find a seat
* The reception staff werent very welcoming, I know Im not a Silver,Gold or platinum member, but have been a member since 2005 and I paid for the priviledge of using the lounge (I used to use the one at Brisbane many years ago).
* The food was not the best lounge food I have had, but then again I wasnt that hungry and what I had was sufficient and if I was very hungry I would of utilised the toaster etc.
* I also found the check in/bag drop staff on this day not to be as cheeful and welcoming as they usually are (maybe the lady I got was having a bad morning).

I left the lounge around 0900 as I didnt know how far the gate was from the lounge, stopping at the newsagent on the way.

Departure: 1010
Arrival: 1155
Embraer190

Boarding was later than what was on the boarding pass. I had to use the stairs to board the plane but because it wasnt too busy I was able to take my time (I'm vision impaired). Once onboard I found my seat 20F and being an Embraer the seats were roomy and comfortable. As usual we drove miles across the airport to the runway. Finally up in the air and seatbelt signs were off I settled in to the Top Gear Middle East Special on my iphone.

Got overlooked when they came through the cabin selling refreshments, was not impressed as the person next to me got served and they moved on. It seemed to be a rushed affair. We soon started out descent in to Hervey Bay passing over Fraser Island.

Once we landed I waited paitiently for nearly everyone to disembark as we were only disembarking through the front doors.
So down the stairs and across the tarmac to the terminal and inside I was met by my friend Tanya and her mum who I had not seen for 27 years when we were in primary school together at RAAF School Penang. Didnt take long for my bag to arrive and we were on our way.

View from my window seat waiting to leave the gate at Sydney airprt.

Nice report - I have found over the years is that it always pays to be alert an make eye-contact with FA's when they are doing their service run as occasionally they may miss you if you don't.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks for taking the time to write up your trip report. I enjoyed reading it.

Thanks heaps for posting your trip report Kylie36, it's always great getting opinions from new members.

I agree with Serfty - you generally need to eyeball the FA's to guarantee getting served. I've been known to flap my arms about like a distressed seal if theres a chance I might get missed

Thanks for the report. Don't you hate those early morning starts.

I look forward to a further report about Hervey Bay.

Thanks for all the comments, Im off to Brisbane with VA tomorrow morning so I will try waving my arms about, Ive got a aisle seat so hopefully this helps.

If I can put together from memory what I did in Hervey Bay I will contiue the post. I have to do one for Brisbane as I went from Hervey Bay to Brisbane by coach and stayed over night in an amazing apartment overlooking the river. Then from Brisbane to Toowoomba and from Toowoomba to Dalby.
