I posted a thread on the problems I faced with booking the VA-Singapore Airlines service to HK only to discover I would not receive priority seating as per my expectation as a VA platinum member. The omission of the Priority Seating on the web page should have been my clue I now understand....

I also noted I booked Air New Zealand following the receipt of my refund from VA after a very, very robust discussion....

While the service with Air NZ was excellent, seating allocation sorted, I again hit the lack of appropriate partnership arrangements by being refused access to the Air NZ lounge in HK. After more robust discussions with both Air NZ and VA, it has become apparent there is a need for a push from the FF community to get these services sorted.

Air NZ owns 25% of VA. They provide excellent service and in what is quite unique nowadays fly their own tin to most major locations. Surely high tier status recipricol rights can be sorted.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Which lounge in HK? There's nothing listed in the lounge directory when travelling on NZ.

I think the trouble may be that NZ would use CX lounges in HKG which don't to have an arrangement with Velocity. (They operate in partnership with CX to AKL)

I guess someone has assumed no one would pick NZ over SQ when going to HKG which should be rectified. (You would have had access to the Silverkris lounge at HKG if travelling with SQ).
