Not travelling for work now but just before Covid, I was VA Platinum for 2 years, purely travelling on VA domestic Y sectors for work (no partners, no international flights, no paid J). For me, inclusive inflight meal is not a huge deal as the included food on domestic sectors (QF) is very average. Also, QF price was far more expensive than VA. Sometimes I could book VA Flexi fares (with much higher SCs) for lower price than cheapest QF flight in corporate travel portal.
Also, I found VA lounge less people than QF lounges. Then there was access to Economy X for free as VA Plat, whereas QF didn't. Then I also have upgrade credits to J when available as a Plat as well if space was available. I took advantage to that.
So I still see VA as a viable option for a large number of enterprises in Australia, esp if their travel is purely domestic.
