Virgin Australia now geoblocking bookings?

Interesting, VA now seems to be geoblocking. Either that or it doesn't like my IP address. Or is the work experience kid tinkering again?

Logged into my Velocity account from Singapore, and it just won't return any results when I search for either award tickets or revenue fares. After entering route and date it gets stuck on the "Loading ... screen" . Turn on VPN and set to an Australian location, and it works fine.

Had the same issue with the app in DOH, just gave up trying to log in. When I did manage to log in it would boot me out again.

You do have to wonder why some companies do this. Poor IT advice I suspect.

Aussie banks tend not to do it.

Coles does it too, you can't access their app or website overseas. Wanted to order a delivery for the day I got back from a US trip, but they've blocked anyone outside Australia.

I found out The Lott app (lottery company) geoblocks. So I have to buy lotto before I leave Australia, or use a VPN (with very specific location)

Geoblocking by an airline seems odd. Localisation maybe (and how annoying that might be is up to you), but full on geoblock is weird.
