Virgin Australia Middle Seat Lottery

I dunno. Fear of winning that would make me even more averse to sitting in the middle seat than I already am. Now if the prize was a few thousand Velocity points ...
I was thinking similar - not for me... and I'd be proud to prove them wrong on the 'money can't buy' thing once I sold it on eBay, if I did win :D

Cheers,
Matt.

If you win a cart, I'll trade you for a few thousand Velocity points 😬

After this comp came out I thought I'd give it a crack - I usually avoid the middle seat but I had a return flight booked for last week ROK-BNE-ROK so being a short flight I thought I'd change my seats to middle there and back as I could handle it. I did the change in the app on 7 Nov and flew down 16 Nov and back 18 Nov.

All good on the way down and was able to enter the comp in the app no problem afterwards. On the way back I just glanced at my boarding pass in my app and headed for the row I knew I was in and plonked myself in the middle seat. After a bit a FA came up and told me to move to the window seat - there was a bloke in the aisle seat. I just thought she was being nice and offering me the seat - I dunno  😄

I wasn't worried because I knew I had changed my seat to the middle one so still would be able to enter the comp. I forgot about it until the day after getting home and went to enter but the app told me that I didn't qualify. I blamed it on myself thinking I had chosen the window seat after all when I changed seats (different row to my initial booking). I looked at my boarding pass again and I was indeed "supposed" to be sitting in the window seat. But I checked my updated itinerary sent on the 7th and I actually had chosen the middle seat - not the window one. That seat remained empty on the flight. Was slightly peeved but probably won't win anything anyway.

So just saying - if you've done like me and changed/chosen the middle seat deliberately for the comp 😏😆 just keep an eye out for any sneaky changes.

You need to enter the comp no more than 48 hours after the flight. Maybe that's why it didn't work?

I thought that too but I entered (or tried) it on Saturday morning - less than 48 hours. It was because they changed my seat

This is my amended itinerary from 7 Nov showing I chose 11FROK-BNE-ROK amended seats.jpg

and my Flight details showing I was changed to 11G
VA Flight 18Nov22 Seat Change.jpg

I got nothing to let me know it had been changed - it is a minor thing and not like I was being downgraded from Business to Economy or anything so doubt it warranted an email/text about it. Just found it odd that it happened and that the seat I had chosen was empty after my move - unless the bloke sitting in the aisle seat wanted a free seat next to him - he wasn't big/tall (insert some PC comment here) and it was a Economy X row so plenty of room. Mystifying :eek:😛

What a Fokker......
(Sorry, couldn't resist. I did try from 30 seconds but couldn't resist in the end)
Yes it seems that all Rocky flights have been fokked for a while. We haven't had a non-Alliance flight for ages. I remember the great days last year of ROK-BNE-ROK in cheapie business with double SC on the 747s. Took me quickly from PS - SG - WP. 😏 🥰

Well I got shafted in the middle seat lottery again o_O I booked 2 trips ROK-BNE return for the DSC offer and deliberately chose middle seat for each of the 4 legs. I took the first return trip this week - ROK-BNE Monday 27th Feb Seat 11F and BNE-ROK Tue 28th again choosing 11F. Was able to enter the ROK-BNE leg with no probs but when I tried to enter the BNE-ROK leg lottery I got a message saying my flight was not eligible. I was able to try to manually input my Ref number and surname to try again but the message was "Sorry that flight isn't eligible". I called VA the next morning after trying again and spoke to a lovely bloke named Jericho (and kept wondering if it was Jericho who won Survivor coz I'm sure he worked/s for VA). He had to keep referring to supervisors and came back with "you are ineligible because your seat was a window seat". Um no. Unless I was hallucinating I was sat between 2 blokes in seat 11F and if I was in the wrong seat I would have been told (as has happened before :rolleyes:). I double checked my boarding pass and original Electronic Receipt and I had deffo chosen 11F - which on a Fokker 100 is middle seat of 3 on the right (left side has 2 seats A&B; right side 3 seats E,F&G).

So yer I had to send through all my screen shots and copy of my electronic receipt etc. Apparently I'll hear back within 5 business days. I reminded Jericho that I had to enter within 48 hours of my flight and he said they'll take that into account and if all is correct I'll still be entered. Probs won't win anyway :p but I never would have deliberately picked the middle seat if not for the comp. Prize for this week is the Spicers Peak Heli Tour
which would be cool. At least one entry went through.

Seems like their system thought you were on a 737, where F is the window seat. That route sometimes runs a 737, though obviously not on your flight.

Finally read the thread, LOTSA peeps saying wouldn't be caught dead in a middle. Thanks for sharing. Not sure how that info helps, but great to know.

A recent flight with family the original flight got cancelled, due to crewing (I checked in lounge, in case I had additional expenses to claim) and we got moved to a later flight. All four moved to middle seats. Thankfully, still in economy X, up front.

so yeah - middle seat lottery... even if I would never have actively picked a middle seat.

Has anyone managed to enter on a group booking?

I got middle seat yesterday on a work group booking, and the app tells me group bookings can not be retrieved on the app, so wont get me past the screen to enter.

Has anyone managed to enter on a group booking?
