Virgin Australia bookings going forward.

Given the airline is in Administration I would think partners would be concerned about getting paid, particularly if payment happens after travel which could be 11 months from now. They are all probably creditors right now.

Didn’t Singapore cut VA off completely? I thought I read a comment somewhere saying this....

I looked up HBA - SIN flights last month on the SQ website. Usually you’d see codeshare VA - SQ flights via Melbourne or Sydney but it came back with no flights available, so I guess they’ve at least paused their relationship. I won’t book domestic to international connections on separate tickets, so I desperately hope VA will codeshare with SQ again in the future.

Not that I can see.
If you look at ADL-SIN on the SQ website it gives the option for direct and also options with VA domestic legs.
HBA is showing on the SQ website from August but nothing for June or July and I think that is due to VA not operating at all to HBA during the minimal service schedule

Hi all, just wondering if there has been any info on VA increasing services during July school holidays.

Sorry in advance if that has been asked, but I haven't been following all this too closely lately. Cheers!

Excellent. No need to panic just yet! I looked up the flights about a month ago for September just to see what had happened with prices. It was so depressing that I haven't checked since. Things have probably changed and will change again before we can fly OS (as with everything else right now).

Does anyone have any thoughts on what VA will do with regards to their schedule for July? Friday 10 July is showing one SYD-MEL; Monday 13 July the schedule MEL-SYD goes back to something looking rather optimistic (i.e. the default sked that was loaded before the pandemic with the 0715 0730 services etc).

Crystal ball time - It's highly unlikely that this schedule will operate. Will pax who have booked be consolidated into a couple of flights?

I am hoping to use travelbank before it is wiped.

The mimimal domestic network ends mid-July. After that I've heard reports VA will look to begin regular ops again in early September. Personally I booked flights for November, though they involve an ATR, which might not be in the fleet post-September.

If you've booked SYD-CBR you might be going SYD-MEL-CBR. Not sure where TMW or ABX would be on the list of priorities if you're based in Sydney. Do VA fly the ATR in Queensland or is that all Alliance?

(as an aside, the ACCC is *very* interested in QF's 19.9% stake of Alliance)

With the minimal dom network ending mid-July, there's a gap till September 1 when redemptions etc start. I guess this period is very dependent (as are all future flights) on where the administration is up to. I just would have thought perhaps loading something more realistic and achieveable for late July like say 4-6 MEL-SYD services, not 20+, would have made sense.

I had a flight booking Syd - Hobart for the first week of July.

Last night I opened the Velocity app to find it has vanished from my "Upcoming trips" tab. I tried to re-add it with my reference number and got the message "You cannot add a cancelled flight."

I haven't received any contact from anyone regarding these flights. While I'm well aware of how unlikely it is that they will go ahead, I'm interested in tracking it as I was hopeful of being able to have the flight credited back in order to re-book when (hopefully) VA re-commence flying. To have flight bookings cancelled with no notice or advice was surprising to me.

No idea what to do or whether to care.

Now that Queensland has been opened up for Intrastate travel I am looking to go to Cairns, but the schedule is still based on people staying at home.

I wouldn't be booking with Virgin anymore than a week out from travel. Deloitte may know what's happening but even then last minute things happen and results in looses at every level, contractors, suppliers, company itself and customers who are last on the list of recourse.

You would certainly be gambling flying VA after mid July for the time being - unless you are one of the poor people stuck with travel banks - in which case maybe nothing to lose.

My corporate travel still has VA completely blocked from travel bookings for future bookings and suspect most businesses would be doing exactly the same until they are taken over and their new model revealed. As an employee I’m fine with that - last thing we want is more VFF points right now!

If you have to fly back from MEL - SYD, you might have to fly with that orange belly opposition to VAd.
These days, there are not too many flights with VAd from/to ADL either, only see the orange belly from her flying far out.
Not that I am going to book VAd/VAi just yet, even if the flights become available, till we know they won't become a LCC.
Who knows, that VAd flight SYD - MEL might be full of essential workers flying down, no sleight against them, mind you, but still, those VA Jul flights might still be meant for them.
Maybe for the time being, fly the orange belly, if you must fly that is.
