Is there a list of planes fitted with WIFI? Or a thread like there was for the interior? Or even just a % of fleet completed?

Are the NZ birds with PE seats instead of business getting it?

Flying across the ditch in Feb and wondering whether the plane will have it.

I believe its over 70% now.

I flew the NZ bird from BNE to WLG last weekend and was pleasantly surprised to find that it had the wifi system!

Thanks. Sounds like there's a reasonable chance my MEL-CHC return flights in late Feb might have WIFI entertainment!

Just got a text message to say that the system was on my flight, will be good to try out.

All 10 VANZ aircraft already have the streaming WiFi IFE system. I think almost all of the VAA 737-800s now have the system as well as a few of the E190s.

I can't give a proper figure however Guest Services will be making announcements prior to boarding to mention that the A/C is fitted or not.

Often also mentioned prior to the front door closing & often early in the flight.

Sometimes I've had the email advising of the wifi & sometimes I haven't (but the aircraft has had it).

My experience has been that somewhere less then half of my flights have worked properly. In a mix of business, row three and at the back, so position doesn't seem to obviously matter.

When it doesn't work, about half of the time there is no connection and the FA's confirm that I am not the only one. The other part of the time, the videos won't star

I can't remember if I've posted this info (and I'm not keen on going back and reading 25 pages), but the one and only time I've tried this wifi system it worked reasonably well. I was mildly bemused by the fact I had it pre-takeoff but when it came back again following takeoff I had to start the whole process over again.....no memory of where we left off. Generally, I still think this idea sucks, but hey......I don't use it a lot so who cares! I have more important things to worry about, like how often I should mow my lawn with all these storms

As I'm almost always on flights that are sub movie length I note how far in I get then next time it's fairly easy to skip ahead. ;)

Having said that, I've got 4 wallabies games on my iPad to watch. I generally make one half per flight, with seven flights left this year I don't have time for IFE.

Lucky you're not an "edge of ones seat" type of movie goer! You'd get nothing finished at work until after the next flight home.......only to repeat the whole process the next week!

I finally got it to work on VA1519 this week and also on the return. On my last flight I got the signal but it refused to load. Staff were no help at all and couldn't even tell me if I was the only one.
This time I opened Chrome and got the same message of "we're sorry" -(actually I've got a screen shot of that somewhere) but I had a lightbulb moment and started up IE (for the first time ever on my ultrabook) and it worked! I closed it and went back to Chrome and it dropped out. But if I left IE open it would work in Chrome!

Anyway a reasonable array of programs but not that much really. No more than on the Galaxy Tab. I didn't find a lot to watch but found a couple of things anyway.

Did the same thing on the way home. Got a couple of crashes when a program opened there was an ad and if I didn't quickly click the 'skip' button in the bottom right hand corner it (the show) wouldn't load at all.

I didn't actually get any notification that this service would be available on this flight though.

I'm not that pleased with it either. I sat there in fear of the dude in 3F dropping his seat back and bending my very thin screen. Had to keep it just out of reach which was a tad too close for me.

Beats staring at the seat back for the distance which was the alternative.

Not sure what the fuss is over a wireless connection? I'm likely to have more content offline on my device than what Virgin's wireless can deliver. Also what happened to live-to-air? Now that was great content. Bring back live-to-air and seat back screens :)

Any Android users finding that the Virgin Entertain app running in the background all the time, chewing up battery? I've deleted it from my phone as a result.

Yes. It managed to drain my Nexus 10 battery by about 30% in one night whilst attached to a high output wall charger.

You should not need to go that far ... system tools (or similar) should enable you to terminate the specific process.

As for the entertainment, I find it works fine on my netbook using IE with silverlight running (it's about the only thing I use IE or Silverlight for).

Yes. Uninstalled as a result. Not flying VA any time soon and I don't like battery hogs.

One our trip back from Denpasar, we had no problems with any of our devices. Our son had an Ipad mini, I used an android 4.1 tablet and my wife had a laptop running windows 8.

The IFE seemed to work ok.

Re: Android App!

not sure if it is mentioned earlier, but it will crash out if it detects your iDevice is jailbroken. Installing xConn (free) gets you past the jailbreak check/crash.

Anyone know how to get the App working on jail broken devices? XCon didn't work
