$1000 in total. i spent $500 before they linked my velocity accounts correctly (which they manually credited). once another $500 had been spent the bonus points showed up in the points history.

Since you currently hold another amex card and applied for this to get the bonus points, did you have to call up to confirm you will receive the bonus pts like cruiser? or did you just hope you'd get it? Just wondering since the missus has a supplementary amex and wanting her to apply for this?

hi. didn't bother calling - just hoped they would appear. figured if I didn't get bonus points could use free flight anyway (and try and genrrate a couple of referrals). i reckon the other half would stand a good chance esp as she is a supplementary holder.

Only thing is she has just moved to a new company start of the year. I am thinking I might have to wait until its closer to end date of the promotion to apply for her. Don't know how much it will affect her application. I've already got a Amex plat and have just applied, last week, for ANZ card, but rejected, so don't know whether I should apply in her place. i think these referral offers seem to come around fairly regularly (somebody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). if no urgent need for points may be best hanging on.

The referral offers are available continuously from anyone who holds an existing Amex and can generate a link for you (excepting the period of time that they took the system down).
Wherever possible when a new cards is needed I keep it within the family so to speak so that I end up with the points anyway

I ditched this card on Friday. I had it for 18 months. At the 12 month renewal I was going to cancel having used the free flt and the 60K points, but they persuaded me to stay by reducing the 2nd year fee by 50%, and keep the free flt which I used straight away.
