Virgin America disclosed some details on Monday of its financial performance, a day before the Dept. of Transportation was scheduled to release operating data the upstart carrier had fought to keep confidential. As expected, the privately held company lost money in 2008, its first full year in operation. Virgin America lost $175 million on revenue of $259 million for the first three quarters of 2008, while its load factor rose to 81.4% in the third quarter from 77.6% the previous quarter.
