Lots of radio ads here in LOTFAP at present where Google?Virgin America are going to offer free inflight internet for the next 2 or 3 moths on all their local flights. I think I also heard Airtran?, and there was another airline as well, but don't remember it now.

Bugger. I've got a small (!) number of AA flights in the coming weeks. Would have been nice to put it on GoGo there too (unlike last years freebie fest of the AATRYGOGO code they dished out; saved me much cash that did!)

I'd happily pay for it, but AA just don't have it on enough a/c (some MD80/803's, 762's and not much else).

I had a play around with gogo inflight and it was rather useful on my flight from SEA-SFO; especially with everything being delayed into SFO I could check the connecting gate info knowing that the 2 hour connection that came 50 minutes grew back to over 1 hr 20 on the flight and with gogo inflight I was able to check.

Seems like the take up rate isn't very high which is surprising.

It might be surprising to Oz residents as we are a little used to paying up for WiFi.

I saw an article recently discussing the reticence of USA travellers in paying for in flight Internet; the gist was that WiFi is generally complimentary in North America.

I'll try and reference the article.
