Found the ‘in cabin’ video… yikes! That’s painful to watchTwo interesting short videos regarding this incident.
From inside the cabin. Flaps are down and I have no idea if they are the correct level. The takeoff roll seems to be very 'laboured' to my untutored eye. The video also shows that they were on the grass for quite a way.
Edit: I have removed this video as it seems to be on autoplay. If you are interested it should be easy to find it.
The second video is from the ground on the runway and shows what appear to be skid marks at the very end of the runway heading into the grass.
I wonder when was it that reduced power take-offs became normal ops.Found the ‘in cabin’ video… yikes! That’s painful to watch
The plane seems to reach a certain speed and then… nothing… just keeps going at the same speed. Until it runs out of runway.
Those 'skid marks' in the video I posted above look a bit that way. What a bizarre series of events.
I don't see how the pilots come out of this looking good. The runway at MUC is very long. I heard one rumour in German aviation circles that the brakes were partially applied during the take-off roll.
