VietJet to start MEL-SGN flights

Vietjet will expand its Vietnam-Australia service later this year, boosting frequencies on routes from Ho Chi Minh City to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. From Nov. 11, the Melbourne route will increase from 5X to 6X-weekly, rising to daily on Dec. 6. Sydney will move from 5X to 6X-weekly flights from Nov. 13 and daily from Dec. 7. Brisbane will grow from four to five flights per week beginning Dec 6.

Looks like everyone is going to SGN for Xmas

Jetstar has quietly reduced SGN flights over the coming months and moving the capacity to BKK.

Think capacity is a bit over done to Vietnam at the moment, can get same week fares for $250 across Jetstar and Vietjet.
JQ62 SYD-MEL tag is gone too.....

Probably a sensible move on JQ's behalf, especially on the BNE-BKK sector which would make it tricky for TG to apply for a return on the BNE route at some point in the future.

However, TG may have the BKK hub but the question is whether if there's the high yield leisure demand out of BNE for BKK and connecting traffic to Europe and elsewhere in Asia.
