Vietjet Rumoured to Be Establishing Australian Subsidiary

Looking back at the Bonza process, they applied for their AOC on April 17th 2022 and received it on January 12th 2023.

Vietjet would be in a good position to do the process as they've already got access to the needed expertise.

Ch 7 news (SYD) tonight hinted that the abundance of slots at WSI was the attraction.

If this ever comes to fruition, I'll place a bet that they'll have the worst service and net promoter scores of any airline that touch (or have previously touched) our shores.

Vietjet have a terrible reputation.
Only taken 1 flight with them and that was PCQ-DAD as they were the only ones operating that route. Paid a few shekels more for the Skyboss thingy and got priority checkin and security, lounge access at PCQ, private air con bus for just 4 of us from terminal out to aircraft and then had whole front row for both of us. Meals were pretty good and staff were fantastic. Arrival and departure times were fairly prompt and our bags came out first.
To cap it off I had signed up to their program a few days earlier and even though Mrs Jase’s birthday was the week before, as we were taxiing in the crew wished her happy birthday and presented her with a leather Vietjet passport holder. For an hour or so flight I’d fly them again over there if need be

Vietjet have zero experience with a domestic AOC, and would not be the first to underestimate the complexity of the process, MinresAir is a good example. Generally your better off buying one, ie Skytrans

Presumably that’s what they’re thinking?

I expect we'll see WSI- AVV flights.
What could possibly go wrong….

Bonza spent 18 months before applying for the AOC putting all the parts together. It was a two year process. They started building it in 2021.

What expertise does Vietjet have? They have zero experience operating to the standards of the west. It’s a bit different compared to say SIA who built Tiger Australia off a high standard Singapore offshoot. They did the whole process down under in about a year. Standards in Singapore to say Vietnam/Thailand are like chalk and cheese.

Ah, but maybe you don't know who Vietjet is talking to, for example ex Bonza people and others familiar with the process.
