Video of yesterday's 747F Crash emerges

I was speechless watching it. Surreal and disturbing - RIP to all those onboard.

The camera was mounted to a car, so it might have been a security person or someone similar. But it does show that people taking videos/pictures around airports are not 'threats' and can actually provide vital evidence in crashes like this. The video really shows the whole thing, even from that far out.
 
Wow, that's incredible. Shocking and RIP to the crew (and hopefully no-one on the ground).

I'm kind-of amazed how long it takes for him to speak - similar videos often have people calling out when they realise disaster is happening, or at the immediate impact. This video his swearing comes quite some time later.


Re: plane spotters - not sure why this had video (? Security car, ? Other), but most airports now realise that spotters often see something out of the ordinary that "authorities" may not be aware of.

No doubt the NTSB will be looking carefully at this video.
 
Very disturbing. Bagram is a large US military base - i dare say this is a security vehicle, hence the camera.

Shocking footage - stall on climbout?

Ditto. I thought the true audio must have been subbed out until I heard at about the 3 min mark. Sideshow to a tragedy, but odd.

Thoughts to the crew and their family's.

Will be interesting to see what has caused this incident..
 
people have video cameras mounted on cars these days incase they catch or are involved in a car accident.
Almost everyone has them in taiwan.
 
It is shocking to watch and being a 747 grabs even more attention as it is very rare for something to go fatally wrong with that bird.

It does look a very steep ascent but that may be the angle. I'm no expert so I won't make any further comment.

No, it is a very steep ascent, however from what I have read that is not uncommon when operating from airports in hostile countries where there is a real risk of some sort of ground weapons being used against aircraft, the downside of such ops is if something does go wrong, there is very little margin for error in getting things back under control.

Being in a place like Bagram, whats shocking might have a different definition compared to other places, or the person was just in shock.
