I recently travelled on a Star Alliance Round the world business class ticket going from Auckland-LA-London (own transport) Nice-Dubai-Male-Singapore-Auckland. After ticketing, US Airways (LAX-LGW) re-routed and therefore re-issued my ticket. They forgot to pass on the new ticket numbers and so when I tried to board a Lufthansa flight in Nice I wasnt in the system as the old one had been voided. The only solution - buy a new ticket home. I was told I would be reimbursed upon returning home.

6 months later I was offered only the actual cost of the flights on the date of purchase at that exchange rate, which didnt take into account credit card charges or interest incurred for the time it took for them to work ouot my payment. As they hadnt sorted it out before my ongoing flight from Dubai to Male I had to buy an additional ticket too.

I have written to US Airways and have been told it is against their policy and is part of their terms of carriage not to pay extra fees, leaving me nearly $2500 out of pocket.

Has anyone else had this kind of situation? Outcomes? I have mentioned legal action but all I got was an email saying sorry no payment and please use us again...

Any advice much appreciated!

Written evidence of the advice to re-book?

What a horror story!

Did you book through a Travel agent - if not who did you book through and how was original ticket payment made?
