Velocity/Virgin websites are RUBBISH

Indeed. Though I didn't notice when they implemented this auto-jump thing when you select a fare. Kind of annoying, especially when the fare summary sidebar then scrolls out of view.

Someone did remark that Virgin supposedly listen and act rather quickly, so who knows - maybe they got a heck of a bad rap on the latest concept.

I send requests for a calendar view every six months. I get acknowledged, however I'm yet to see any evidence of anyone listening.

So $100 or status credits? I'll have the SCs :cool:
Actually, me too... :rolleyes:

So look, I've really only used it to check pricing and availability on a particular routing – MEL-HKG and MEL-BKK via both PER and SIN. I used the VA Holidays site to check it was possible/reasonably priced, and then called the WP line to book.

The VA website used to have a weird thing (because there weren't enough weird things) where if you selected, say, the MEL-PER-SIN-HKG routing one way, it would only give you a single return option which was more direct (MEL-SIN-HKG), severely limiting flight options.

Trying to find reward availability on the LA flights... seem impossible now that they have merged all the columns on the website.

They are hopeless.

I don't get what you're alluding to here. Whilst it isn't the most streamlined method, finding availability (Reward, not Any Seat) seems fairly OK. You just have to keep clicking ahead day by day, but at least the position of the mouse pointer doesn't have to change. When the column "Business Reward" pops up (or whatever class you're looking for), check your options (any prices with the "V-tag" mark).

Indeed.

Honest question: Does anyone know where you can find their maintenance schedule?

Call me a cynic, but I'm not convinced they 'schedule' maintenance on a Monday during business hours?

Unless they have outsourced their actual technical work to a company that is both:

1) thinking and operating in terms of US or European timezones
2) completely incompetent

I'm a little bit amazed, but also quite willing to believe both these things are true... Would explain a lot actually!

I wouldn't think so, but calling it "Scheduled Maintenance" is very deceiving and a bad business practice. It also partly pushes the blame onto the customer for accessing the website when it was scheduled to be down.

I doubt it is scheduled maintenance, suspect something has gone wrong and they're trying to fix it. Must be a large problem as even the call centre can't do anything right now, and Monday would be a very busy day for them normally. Very frustrating...

To be fair, the direct competitor doesn't exactly inform people when maintenance will be happening either. I'm not sure if they use the words "scheduled maintenance", but you basically get the "emergency" functions website.

I wouldn't get too hung up about that; basically the message is the same: the website can't help you now.

Yep.

Scheduled by VFF maybe, but I don't remember seeing any warning prior.

Who schedules maintenance:

* In the middle of the day
* On a Monday
* With no prior warning
* With no means of booking travel using points
* Without providing any indication of when service will be restored

I suspect this message is actually covering a major incident that has knocked things offline.

This maintenance isn't scheduled. This is just the face saving message posted while they try to work out what has broken.

It stopped workiing this morning with an "Unable to retrieve profile" message.
