Hello all,
I am an irregular international flyer but have been fortunate to secure business class seats Perth - LA return with Air NZ.
I am a Velocity member and was wondering if it was worth signing up to the airpoints as offered by Air NZ and booking my trip on that rather than velocity.
I am unsure where the points return sits with Velocity V Airpoints and wish to maximize my return so any advise by seasoned travelers is appreciated though its not likely to amount to much other giving me a nice warm feeling inside :-)
TIA
Steve

IMO it would depend on where you based and the likelihood of where you will spend your points if and when you have enough. If you live in NZ it may be better to take them as NZ AP, but if you are based in AU then Velocity may be more use to you. As an infrequent flyer you may like to choose the program that has the best online store etc. Its a difficult question as what is good for me is not necessarily good for you

As mentioned by eric2011, my suggestion would be to use the program in which country you're based (i.e. if based in AU use Velocity, if based in NZ use Airpoints). The Airpoints program generally isn't great for those based outside of NZ.

I would recommend crediting the points to Virgin Velocity. You'll get much more "mileage" out of them than you would crediting to Air NZ. In my opinion, Airpoints is one of the worst value frequent flyer programs in the world.

Thanks to all that took the time to reply. I will see if they will add my velocity membership to the flights even though I have already booked.
cheers :-)

Hi All
I have a similar question. I am flying Sydney To Queenstown return (soon, before the Virgin/AirNZ divorce) and I am a member of both Velocity and Airpoints. How do I check to make sure I will earn the points to Velocity instead of to Airpoints?
