Can I just say, its a con/cop out, for both VFF and 7 Eleven.
Its not all equal for everyone sort of an offer/deal, its quite/very selective, not an even playing field.
There are no 7 Elevens stores in South Australia, so that means effectively, a certain part of the Aust population, can't/are not able to participate, even if they wanted to.
Also, a person must have a modern(ish) smart phone to participate, ie, those with the very basic mobile, can't participate either, ie, below Android version 9 can't participate.

So what should they have done? Not partnered with 7/11?

Part of the reason why they're quite restrictive about what devices can run the app is because of the fuel lock feature.

If you've got the technical know-how, then it's possible to spoof your GPS location and lock in prices from other areas of Australia that may be at vastly different points in their fuel cycles.

By locking down to newer models where it's actually harder to spoof a GPS location they can prevent some of that behaviour.
Speaking of this, it’s surprising how short a walk I need to take in order to get “in the zone” of a cheap 7-Eleven station (which would still be 20-30 min drive away) to get a cheap price lock.

Since I started using this I’m regularly saving 20-25% on fuel (eg lock at 148.9 and pump at 193.9). The store staff are quite surprised

Clearly the answer is to open a network of 7-11s in SA to ensure equality for all Australians wanting VA points

This one nearly takes the cake Pooch.

There's nothing "very/quite" selective about the points you've raised. I've already debunked the Android phone version rant previously, shall we look at population stats next? No promotion/partnership is going to be equally accessible by every Australian. Think about the poor QFF/VA members living in NZ who don't get access to any of this!

OT, I don't know, Odysseus, what the ideal is.
My 2 smart(ish) phones is Android 8, and still works, so am not going to spend good money to buy a new phone, granted a new handset can go for $209, for Android 9.
So even when I went to BNE a few weeks ago, I knew I would not have been able to earn VFF points.
So I only went to EG as in European Garages at Uppert Mt Gravatt, and BP at Milton.

There are ways to work around this, and the benefit is better than air miles! ;)
Oh cough, I already posted about this in the last page 🤭

Well, he can work around the phone bit, but that doesn't really help the SA bit... And wouldn't be worth it just to buy for occasional trips interstate.

But that said, it's just one of those partnerships that doesn't have use to you, like health insurance when you have a better other insurer, or a mortgage when you rent, or already paid off your loan (or just don't want to switch), and many others.

I don't think there would've been another petrol station partner to use apart from 7-Eleven. The big 3: Shell, Ampol (Caltex) and BP already have partnerships. All the other petrol station brands including 7-Eleven don't have outlets nation wide or have too few of them. 7-Eleven essentially took over Mobil outlets throught most of the country.

7-Eleven is a great partner to have, just a pity they're not in some of the smaller populated states and not often found in regional areas.

Unsure if this has been brought up already, but fairly recently (in the past couple of weeks), 7-Eleven has updated their systems so that you can now use your Virgin Frequent Flyer card to collect points instead of having to sign up for a my 7-Eleven account and do all of that linking and other nonsense:

Good if you don't want the 7-11 app, but if you're buying fuel from 7-11 it's worth having the app and doing a fuel lock price which may be cheaper than the outlet you're getting the fuel at.

Ta for that one Kangarooflyer88.
Will get new updated VFF card without VGW ensign (I havent asked for a new VFF card since VGW got closed down)...
Might try the DIY sto(re)card VFF number barcode when I am in NSW/Vic/Qld next, when our domestic borders open again.

Transform your lounge room (or any indoor space) into your own private movie theatre in just a few seconds.

Our Mini Pocket Projector is small, light and easily transportable. A must have!

Have really loved this 7/11 partnership, earning some reward points for fuel & instore purchases is the icing on the cake.

Since it’s commencement, I’ve learnt the price lock function & saved $18 on a fill up this week!

Was focused on BP / Qantas previously but have certainly changed my habits.

Same here. I previously focused on Woolworths gift cards 5% off + 4c off, and ignored my friend who told me about 7-11. I eventually realised that it is so much cheaper flying from SYD to MEL to lock LPG price than using Woolworths gift cards.

Could be mistaken here but doesn't QF prohibit storing LPG in checked luggage? 🤣

7-11 seems to have increased the price differential between U91 and U98 from 18c to 20c in the past two to three weeks. Is that to pay for VA points?

Just to go with your joke, let's say I charter a Qantas AAE freighter ;)

Actually, I just fly to MEL, lock the LPG price on my $50 secondhand iPhone, then fly back to Sydney and fill up ;)
Our first true national petrol market. 😁

I just won one of their Virgin flights. Return economy domestic class ticket to anywhere in Australia. Where should I go?

Although it would be better if it were QANTAS, as I'm not a frequent flyer with Virgin.
Edit: I'm just the base level with Virgin.

I would say that the current question is Where can you actually go?

In all seriousness, congrats!

I supposed I've left out a key piece of information. I'm based in Brisbane. Not really all that fussed about when I travel, but would need to give me work advance notice to take leave.
