Reward fare price drop?

I just noticed that the reward price appears to be lower . SYD MEL was 6900points +$45 now it is 4830+ $45

Business class 9660 points +$25

looks like other destinations are lower as well.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Re: Reward fare price drop?

A 30% discount on points looks like a promotion of some sort. They do run them from time to time.

Re: Reward fare price drop?

Given the history of the Velocity redemptions booking engine, it's probably an error. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't jump on it.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Thanks for the tip ....you are right. I normally use 50% upgrades, but some Christmas flights the Flexi Fare just was too expensive. I have booked the J Class redemption for Christmas and saved nearly 9000 points to the price I saw yesterday!

Between that and my HBA PER J class bargain a few weeks ago I am a very happy velocity member!

Hi guys

Just a quick question. Just noticed the redemption sale is on..

Airline Special Offers | Velocity Frequent Flyer

Are reward flights always fixed on how many miles are needed to redeem one for a fixed destination? Unlike cash prices, which fluctuate based on demand (month of travel etc?) So better off redeeming reward flight for a high season flight (mainly the Syd-HKG route) if there is availability?

Thanks!

A bit annoying having to call the vel centre to just even check availability etc..!

Re: Reward fare price drop?

As mentioned in the other thread:

The sale is not valid for SYD HKG as operated by VS. Only DJ services

I didn't see that in the t&cs and previously rang the hotline to enquire about reward seats to HKG and didn't have any issues...?

However VS is not VA, so the hotline would have been quoting you "full fare" redemption rates for this route.

Addressing your original query, yes, the points requirement for a given destination are fixed. The tables are here:
Points Tables | Velocity Frequent Flyer
(Velocity defines SYD-HKG as 4595 miles.)

Hi all! Just letting you know the sale has been extended to Jan 6, with flight up to September!!

A huge well done to you, VA.

And with 30% less points on some domestic and short haul international redemptions

I cant find any details on thge Velocity Site as to when flights are valid too etc!!!
