Velocity Platinum - any advantage when booking VA Doha flights?

Is there any benefit to being Velocity Platinum when looking for J rewards seats on a VA numbered (not QR) flight to/from Doha?
From my research to date there doesn't seem to be (and availability is very sparse to non-existent) but wondered if there is a trick I didn't know? I know with QFF higher status it opens up more availability ... wasn;t sure if the same somehow applies with VA but I'm hoping my status counts for something beneficial in the fruitless J search :)
