hi all

thinking about taking VX LAX-MCO in First. main reason for this is family pooling of SC and I just wanted to make sure I had my ducks lined up before i take the plunge. I assume, so long as I have family pooling set up on my wife's, and son's Velocity account, that when the points & SC get credited from VX these will goto my Velocity account. We were going to go First as a bit of a luxury for a fairly long flight and then I would earn 80 SC ( i think) for each. I think this costing approx $US1500 for the three of us. AA is about $200 less. from what I understand from reading, VX First seems to be rated as one of the best Domestic first's in USA. that plus the benefit of pooling is tipping me to pay the extra $$. I would have gone MCO-DFW also with VX but they don't fly direct.

anyway was just wanted to confirm my understanding was correct as wouldnt liek to get that wrong and then not get the SC family pooling. appreciate any advice.

cheers

Confirm this is what happens. I did sfo-mco in first. Nice, but no other first US experience to compare with.
Nice adjustable seat, but the seat itself was quite dirty. Food ok, but not like va or qf. Set your expectations low and you'll be happy :)

Agree. First VX is not even equal to business VA, food wise especially, IMO. I think the 'dirty' white lether does make it a little more gross than it probably is!

just upgraded from vx main cabin to first (at T-6hours). Anyone had any recent experience of paid upgrades (and whether family pooling points post as original fare class, upgrade fare class, or not at all?)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Is a booking class (fare bucket code) shown on your BP?

Nope. Confirmed verbally with ground staff that original booking class is E and upgraded booking class is J. Excellent service sfo to ord today. At the price we paid I think even without points and sc (if that's how it goes) it was an okay deal.

My understanding is that for the paid upgrades that VX offer, you're only eligible for points / status credits for what you originally purchased. If you'd been rebooked in the higher fare class (which I can only assume would be significantly more expensive), it'd be a different story.
