Velocity Double Status Credits July/August 2023

No business class but as it's part of the whole journey, I can book it as a business fare and still get business class status credits 😁

Do we know for sure that the GLT-BNE leg will earn business status credits? I know the VA website states as much when making the booking, but some people have had issues with getting this credited when flying Y on a J ticket on the SYD-CBR route:

I had this issue with the CBR-SYD-ADL flight (specifically the CBR-SYD segment) however Velocity were happy to credit the advertised amount of SCs when I rang them and explained the situation

Good to know, but ideally you would have received the advertised status credits in the first place. The fact you needed to call indicates that Velocity didn't credit the advertised amount of status credits automatically.

@dapianoman you'll probably be OK, but I would take a screenshot of the booking page showing the advertised status credit earn when booking - just in case ;)

@Mattg Good idea! Will do 😉

Did something happen with VA's notifications after they were taken over? I never get any emails from them now. I used to be buried in them. Whenever I book a flight it always has the checkbox to sign up but I assumed I was on their list. Apparently not as I didn't get this notification or any sale emails. I have hardly flown since Covid so haven't been as focused but still it's odd.
Edit: I just went into their site and tried subscribing again but it said I was already subscribed! I haven't had a VMail since March 2020 according to my archives.

Can't say I'm finding a whole lot of value for a November status run. Might just book a SYD-MEL or SYD-BNE to keep credits ticking up.

Does this work only if you make a booking through Virgin's website? Or can I take advantage of the AMEX Platinum fares for Virgin?

Hi there,
Looking at flights but not sure how many to book ahead.
If I hit the renewal goal for platinum, is there any benefit to getting more SCs? Do they rollover to next year?

Nope. But if you earn an extra 500 above the Platinum renewal threshold, you can gift Gold status to someone. Earn an extra 1,000 and you can gift Platinum.

Doesn't matter where you book as long as you activate the offer first and in line with the T&C's.

If one was to book a flexi return during the offer period but then change the travel dates at some point in the future if required (but still within the travel dates of the promotion) would the booking still attract double SC? I think the answer is yes but wanted to confirm.

Only if booked and changed whilst the DSC promotion is running.

I beg to differ, the PNR is still dated within the DSC offer & the flights taken with DSC offer window.
So I'd think the DCS will post.
The T&C's would kind of agree with you:

"The promotion is for new Eligible Flights booked and ticketed during the Promotion Period, and changes to existing bookings made prior to the Promotion Period are not eligible."

My thoughts are :
If they post automatically in the line with promotion, obviously all good.
If they post as standard earn rates and you contact the call centre, you're possibly out of luck.

How's that for sitting on the fence ? :)

Good to know for me also. We flew MEL-BNE-TSV last week and the Alliance flight didn’t post business SC even though the booking said it would.
The missing 60SC will push my wife to Gold.
