Velocity - city pairs not searchable

Hi,

Have only ever chased QF points/redemptions but now switching over to Velocity as am growing tired of QFF (plus I want to fly Qatar again).

I am quite well versed in finding QFF/Oneworld award availability and their routings but Velocity is new to me.

1. With Velocity there are some city pairs which are unable to be searched. For example you can’t search Athens to Singapore, but I can pull up individual availability for ATH>DOH and then separately for DOH>SIN. If I were to call the phone line would they be able to ticket this on the one ticket? And would the points cost be based on the total distance of the two segments together, and not priced separately?

2. Is it possible to book awards with multiple partner airlines on the one ticket? I assume so? If the above ATH>SIN (on QR) routing example is possible to book over the phone then I would look to also add a leg of SIN>MEL (on SQ). Would the phone line be able to book that route, with multiple partner airlines, between city pairs that are unsearchable on the website?

3. Will velocity allow mixed cabin class on the one ticket?

Sorry if newbie questions, but used to how QFF works only.

I’ve also noticed that SIN - BRU can’t be booked even though Singapore is resuming the route from early next year.

I have found lots of unsearchable pairs but there is availability on the two seperate legs that would link up fine.

This isn’t a question about married segments, as the velocity search engine won’t even allow me to search those pairs.

1. Yes, I booked CPH-DOH-MEL over the phone just the other day (unlike QF, getting onto VA on the phone was pretty painless). It didn't show up online because the flights were on different days and/or the layover was 9 hours (not sure which). The ticket priced at 139K as the layover in DOH was less than 24 hours and both legs were on QR in J.

2. I've never tried but I'd presume so. However, the ATH-DOH-SIN and SIN-MEL legs will price separately.

If you search something else, the edit search seems to show a greater range. You can always modify the URL too.

Yup...just do any search and modify the origin and destination in the URL...problem solved.

The search engine has been rubbish for at least a decade. Nothing new, had the same issues with VX and DL and that goes back a decade.

A few months back, I found VIE-AUH and AUH-SIN -- I would have preferred QR via DOH but not available my date -- and the call centre was able to book the two legs on the one ticket. At first he said it's not available, but when I explained the issue he put me on hold (perhaps to ask a supervisor?) and came back with a positive answer and booked it successfully at the correct price.

What exactly are you meaning by this? Can you (via the URL edit method) effectively tell what stops/routings you want to take? I am wanting it to find/price up CDG>DOH>SIN>MEL. When searching CDG>MEL that route wont come up, probably because it is a bit convoluted (the availability is all there, and all short layovers of a few hours each).. Can I force the search results to bring up that route by editing the URL somehow?

Or is this not really what you mean?

You can. But it will fail on pricing so you can't complete this booking online. Phone would be the only option. Also, I don't think Velocity offers mix n match on airlines....except 1 partner + VA. Maybe just never seen it because that type of overlap doesn't exist on any route??

DOH>SIN (on QR) linking up to SIN>MEL (on SQ) is what I’m interested in. If you effectively book any segments together then I’m trying to find out if mis matching airlines will prevent that. The routes with mismatches are there, just seeing if anyone has experience getting them booked on the one ticket over the phone.
