Velocity benefits when flying on a Virgin Atlantic ticket but codeshared on Delta

Bit of a confusing one

Looking to buy an 'Open Jaw' ticket from SYD to LHR and then returning LAX to SYD. Got a good price quoted from travel agent, but Virgin Atlantic put the return leg on Delta (rather than Virgin Australia) and buying two single's is way more expensive.

Will I get Velocity Platinum benefits on the LAX leg - ie. lounge (if indeed there even is one)? And would I be able to consider points for upgrade for that leg - it's a ticket class N apparently (I have enough points on either Velocity or VA Flying Club)

Just to clarify, you are going SYD VS HKG VS LHR // LAX DL SYD all non codeshare ? you will get lounge access at all VS and DL lounges along the way as a VA Plat.

you said that the DL booking class is N ? I think that is a redemption class. Is the travel agent you are dealing with well known to you ?

You cant use VA points to upgrade on a DL flight. almost sure VS is the same

If it's a VS ticketed N codeshared onto DL, would it not earn as VS N (discount economy) for Velocity? (I'm not really sure, just thinking out loud)

If there was any chance at all of asking them to change your LAX-SYD leg to VA metal over DL in economy I'd try and do that, too!

VS are not allowed to codeshare LAX SYD ( at this stage anyway )

If its a VA flight number (and hence VA codeshare) then you will get points and status credits as per the VA tables and lounge access etc as described in the relevent section on the velocity website.

(so in other words, its not a VS codeshare, your travel agent purchased a VA flight on a delta plane)

Definitely a DL flight - per Deewhy, it's DL17 LAX-SYD.

VA6551 is DL17, operated by Delta. You can look it up in Virgin Australia's timetable.

That means it departs from Delta's terminal 5 at LAX and you will have access to the Delta Sky Club.

The VA-operated LAX-SYD flight is VA2.
