Well VAII has not let the grass grow under the tyres....

20% Bonus offer for transfering points to VFF

2020 09 07 VFF 20 offer.jpg

Now, declaring self-interest, without clear information on if +/or when transfers etc with SIA et al are provided - my trigger finger is not at all itchy.

Intriguing choice of partners to offer the transfers with.

It looks like Amex Membership Rewards and NAB Rewards are the only credit card reward programs in Australia to have reinstated transfers to Velocity so far. Amex has allowed transfers again since May, while NAB Rewards is a new addition.

Interesting that Flybuys is not included in this promo.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

If Flybuys was part of it I might think about it.

Agree that we need to see what SQ and VA2 have to say.

Good to see some resemblance of normality from Virign, just a shame that ANZ and the other banks aren't included. I hope all the old transfer partners return soon now that the sale is locked in.

Question is, do I spend my ANZ points on Coles gift cards now or save them and transfer later for a J redemption down the line?

I assume that is a rhetorical question! 😲

FWIW, you can still transfer ANZ Rewards points to KrisFlyer and redeem KrisFlyer miles for VA flights, even on routes that Velocity hasn't opened back up for redemption yet (e.g. SYD-CFS).

Spend on Coles gift cards, then earn flybuys and transfer later for a J redemption down the line?

Semi-rhetorical question, but thank you for the suggestions

Totally forgot you could transfer ANZ points to KrisFlyer. I have a huge stack of KrisFlyer miles now after cancelling a 2 x Suites award flights for later this year, so I think I need to re-think my whole points strategy.

ANZ to Krisflyer is unappealing to me at the current transfer rate.

I'll be waiting to see what happens with the VAII > Krisflyer arrangement because that was always a better route into Krisflyer, specifically if your ANZ points are boosted with a transfer promotion into VFF.

This raises an interesting point - how many people actually see value in Velocity if the option to transfer to Krisflyer doesn’t exist? I know I certainly don’t...

With state borders closed, reduced domestic travel and a ban on international travel, I don't see a lot of value in anything at the moment. It's more about hedging my bets. ANZ aren't going anywhere, so I'll just leave my points there until we have more certainty about travel.

I still see value in Velocity, even without Krisflyer, but I don't see any point in transferring into VFF when I can't currently use the points. VFF run these promos several times per year, so I'll just wait it out to see what the climate is like next time the offer rolls around.

St George Amplify point redemptions have never stopped. My points have been automatically transferring to Velocity monthly without pause. I was also disappointed that FlyBuys wasn't included as I've not transferred waiting specifically for something like this.

I always used my VFF points for flights on HA to Oahu or Delta to the US. I guess it doesn't really matter if I can't get the bonus transferring right now in that case.

There was a 20% transfer bonus from Flybuys in July.

If you had Velocity auto-redemption set up before VA went into administration, then yes, that continues as normal.

You can't otherwise transfer Amplify points to Velocity at the moment.

Another one who got the promo and didn't even consider it as an option. As others said above, until we have more clarity on international travel I'll be keeping my points within Amex and FlyBuys and transfer them out when I have a possibility of using them.

Without a strong international offering Velocity has very little value to me.
